Gwobr Efydd Hawliau'r Plant (UNICEF)
Mae gweledigaeth a gwerthoedd ein hysgol yn ganolog i bwysigrwydd trin ein gilydd fel y byddem am gael ein trin ein hunain, gyda pharch ac urddas, gan sicrhau bod pob person yn cael ei werthfawrogi. Dyma un o’r rhesymau pam mae gwaith UNICEF ac Ysgolion sy’n Parchu Hawliau mor arwyddocaol i ni.
Rydym yn hynod falch o fod yn ysgol sy'n Parchu Hawliau ac o fod wedi ennill y Wobr Efydd Parchu Hawliau. Ond, nid yw'r gwaith yn dod i ben yno - rydym bellach yn gweithio ar ennill y Wobr Arian Parchu Hawliau. Nid yw hyn oherwydd ein bod eisiau bathodyn neu dystysgrif, ond oherwydd ein bod am wella addysg ein plant a'u dyfodol yn wirioneddol.
Beth yw Ysgol sy'n Parchu Hawliau?
Mae Gwobr Ysgolion sy'n Parchu Hawliau UNICEF y DU (RRSA) yn seiliedig ar egwyddorion cydraddoldeb, urddas, parch, peidio â gwahaniaethu a chyfranogiad. Mae’r RRSA yn ceisio gosod Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn wrth galon ethos a diwylliant ysgol i wella llesiant a datblygu doniau a galluoedd pob plentyn i’w llawn botensial.
Mae ysgol sy’n parchu hawliau yn gymuned lle mae hawliau plant yn cael eu dysgu, eu haddysgu, eu hymarfer, eu parchu, eu hamddiffyn a’u hyrwyddo. Mae pobl ifanc a chymuned yr ysgol yn dysgu am hawliau plant trwy eu rhoi ar waith bob dydd.
Teimlwn ei bod yn bwysig pan fydd plant yn dysgu am eu hawliau ei bod yn bwysig bod cysylltiadau dyfnach hefyd yn cael eu gwneud yn eu dealltwriaeth o natur hawliau.
Beth yw Hawliau'r Plentyn UNICEF?
Mae’n ofynnol i Ysgolion sy’n Parchu Hawliau UNICEF y DU weithredu pedair safon sy’n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth:
-Mae gwerthoedd parchu hawliau yn sail i arweinyddiaeth a rheolaeth.
-Mae cymuned yr ysgol gyfan yn dysgu am Gonfensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau'r Plentyn.
-Mae gan yr ysgol ethos sy'n parchu hawliau.
-Plant yn cael eu grymuso i ddod yn ddinasyddion gweithgar ac yn ddysgwyr.

Sesiwn Dod i'ch Adnabod Teuluoedd Meithrin - Atgof
Wrth i ni groesawu mwy o deuluoedd i’n hysgol dros yr wythnosau diwethaf, rydym yn gyffrous iawn i gyhoeddi y byddwn yn cynnal sesiwn ‘dod i’ch adnabod’ byr. Cyfnod byr yw hwn - yn syth ar ôl ein hamser codi yn y prynhawn er mwyn i deuluoedd ddod i adnabod ei gilydd. Nid oes cyflwyniad ffurfiol na dim byd felly. Mae hwn yn amser lle gall teuluoedd ddod i adnabod ei gilydd ychydig ac i chi ddod i adnabod y staff. Bydd cacen! Rydym yn bwriadu cynnal y digwyddiad hwn heddiw (ddydd Mawrth, 9fed o Fai) am 3yp. Mae hwn ar agor i unrhyw deuluoedd Meithrin - hyd yn oed os ydych wedi bod i un o'r blaen neu wedi bod gyda ni ers peth amser.

Dim ond nodyn atgoffa cyflym yw hwn i sicrhau bod pawb yn ymwybodol o'n cyfathrebiadau ddydd Gwener trwy'r Bwletin a thrwy ClassDojo bod y dyddiadau ar gyfer ein taith Blwyddyn 1 a Blwyddyn 3 i Big Pit wedi gorfod newid oherwydd gwall yn swyddfa weinyddol Big Pit. Felly, bydd Blwyddyn 1 yn mynychu'r daith YFORY (dydd Mercher 10fed o Fai) a bydd Blwyddyn 3 yn mynychu'r daith ddydd Iau 11eg.

Bronze Award for Children's Rights (UNICEF)
Our school's vision and values have at their heart the importance of treating each other as we would want to be treated ourselves, with respect and dignity, making sure that each person is valued. This is one of the reasons why the work of UNICEF and Rights Respecting Schools is so significant to us.
We are incredibly proud to be a Rights Respecting school and of having achieved the Bronze Rights Respecting Award. But, the work doesn't stop there - we are now working on achieving the Silver Rights Respecting Award. This is not because we want a badge or certificate, but because we want to truly improve our children's education and their future.
What is a Rights Respecting School?
The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential.
A rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Young people and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.
We feel it is important that when children learn about their rights it is important that deeper connections are also made in their understanding about the nature of rights.
What are the UNICEF Rights of the Child?
UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools are required to implement four evidence-based standards:
-Rights-respecting values underpin leadership and management.
-The whole school community learns about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
-The school has a rights-respecting ethos.
-Children are empowered to become active citizens and learners.

NURSERY
Our Nursery Getting to Know You Session - Reminder
As we have welcomed more families to our school over the last few weeks, we are really excited to announce that we will be holding a short 'getting to know you' session. This is a quick meet-up - straight after our afternoon pick up time so that families can get to know each other. There is no formal presentation or anything like that. This is a time where families can get to know each other a little and for you to get to know the staff. There will be cake! We plan on holding this event today (Tuesday, 9th of May) at 3pm. This is open for any Nursery families - even if you have been to one before or have been with us for some time.
YEAR 1 AND YEAR 3
Big Pit Trip
This is just a quick reminder to ensure that everyone is aware from our communications on Friday via the Bulletin and via ClassDojo that the dates for our Year 1 and Year 3 trip to Big Pit have had to change due to an error at Big Pit’s admin office. Therefore, Year 1 will be attending the trip TOMORROW (Wednesday 10th of May) and Year 3 will be attending the trip on Thursday 11th.
