Wel, rydym wedi cyrraedd diwedd tymor llwyddiannus arall yma yn Ysgol Panteg. Edrychwn ymlaen at weld pawb yn ôl ddydd Mawrth, 14eg o Ebrill. Bydd y bwletin ar y diwrnod hwn yn cynnwys y wybodaeth gofrestru newydd ar gyfer clybiau. Felly, ni fydd unrhyw glybiau ar ôl ysgol yn yr wythnos gyntaf yn ôl.

Helpu Plant i Gymryd eu Camau Nesaf tuag at Annibyniaeth: Gwneud Dewisiadau
Fel rhan o'n gwaith ar ddatblygu annibyniaeth, mae pob llinyn o'n fframwaith yn canolbwyntio ar agwedd wahanol ar sut mae plant yn dysgu cymryd cyfrifoldeb am eu meddwl a'u gweithredoedd eu hunain. Heddiw, rydym yn troi at Wneud Dewisiadau.
Mae gwneud dewisiadau yn llinyn o annibyniaeth sy'n helpu plant i ddeall bod eu gweithredoedd yn llunio eu profiadau. Nid yw'n ymwneud â rhoi rhyddid diderfyn i blant. Mae'n ymwneud â'u helpu i gydnabod bod hyd yn oed penderfyniadau bach yn cario ystyr, a bod dewisiadau meddylgar yn meithrin hyder, cyfrifoldeb, ac ymdeimlad o berchnogaeth dros ddysgu. Mae staff yn cefnogi hyn trwy gynnig cyfleoedd strwythuredig i blant benderfynu sut y byddant yn mynd ati i dasg, pa offer y byddant yn eu defnyddio, neu ba strategaeth a fydd yn eu helpu i symud ymlaen. Mae'r eiliadau hyn yn dangos i blant fod eu barn yn bwysig a'u bod yn gallu dylanwadu ar ganlyniad eu gwaith.
Mae plant yn dechrau trwy ddewis rhwng opsiynau syml, concrit. Gallent benderfynu pa bensil i'w ddefnyddio, ble i eistedd, neu ba lyfr i ddechrau ag ef. Mae'r dewisiadau cynnar hyn yn fach, ond maent yn helpu plant i ddeall bod gan benderfyniadau ganlyniadau. Wrth iddyn nhw dyfu, maen nhw'n dysgu pwyso a mesur beth sydd ei angen arnyn nhw, beth sydd ei angen ar y dasg, a beth fydd yn eu helpu i lwyddo. Yn ddiweddarach, maen nhw'n dechrau gwneud dewisiadau sy'n cynnwys cynllunio, fel penderfynu ar y drefn i gwblhau camau neu ddewis strategaeth sy'n addas i'r her. Mae staff yn arwain y datblygiad hwn trwy fodelu sut i feddwl yn uchel, trwy egluro'r rhesymau y tu ôl i'w penderfyniadau eu hunain, a thrwy annog plant i fyfyrio ar sut yr effeithiodd eu dewisiadau ar eu cynnydd.
Gall teuluoedd feithrin yr arfer hwn gartref trwy greu eiliadau lle gall plant wneud penderfyniadau ystyrlon. Nid oes angen i'r rhain fod yn fawr nac yn gymhleth. Mae dewis pa dasg i'w gwneud gyntaf, penderfynu sut i drefnu eu bag ysgol, neu ddewis lle i gwblhau gwaith cartref i gyd yn helpu plant i ymarfer meddwl ymlaen llaw. Pan fydd oedolion yn trafod eu penderfyniadau eu hunain, er enghraifft "Rwy'n mynd i ddechrau gyda'r swydd hon oherwydd bydd yn cymryd yr hiraf," mae plant yn dysgu sut i ystyried opsiynau a chynllunio eu gweithredoedd. Pan fydd plentyn yn gwneud dewis, mae sylw syml fel "Dewisoch chi'r ystafell dawelach er mwyn i chi allu canolbwyntio" yn eu helpu i gysylltu eu penderfyniad â'i effaith.
Mae plant yn elwa o gyfleoedd i ailedrych ar eu dewisiadau. Pan nad yw rhywbeth yn mynd fel y disgwylir, gall oedolion eu helpu i fyfyrio heb farnu. Mae gofyn “Beth allech chi roi cynnig arno y tro nesaf?” yn annog plant i weld gwneud penderfyniadau fel sgil sy’n gwella gydag ymarfer yn hytrach na rhywbeth y mae’n rhaid iddyn nhw ei wneud yn iawn bob tro. Mae hyn yn meithrin gwydnwch ac yn helpu plant i ddeall bod dewisiadau’n rhan o ddysgu, nid prawf o allu.
Nid yw gwneud dewisiadau’n ymwneud ag annibyniaeth er ei fwyn ei hun. Mae’n ymwneud â helpu plant i ddeall eu hunain fel dysgwyr. Pan fyddant yn gwybod sut i ddewis offer, cynllunio eu dull, ac addasu eu penderfyniadau pan fo angen, maent yn dod yn fwy hyderus ac yn fwy abl i reoli eu dysgu eu hunain. Mae’r ymdeimlad hwn o asiantaeth yn eu cefnogi yn yr ysgol ac yn eu paratoi ar gyfer y byd ehangach, lle mae gwneud penderfyniadau meddylgar yn hanfodol.

Mae Blwyddyn 6 wedi mwynhau ychydig ddyddiau bythgofiadwy o brofiadau! Rhoddodd eu hymweliad â Stiwdios y BBC gipolwg cyfareddol iddynt y tu ôl i'r llenni, gyda'r disgyblion yn camu i fyd darlledu ac yn dysgu sut mae rhaglenni'n dod yn fyw. Parhaodd y dathliadau yn ôl yn yr ysgol gyda noson pizza hamddenol ac ymweliad gan y fan consol gemau, a ddaeth â digon o hwyl a chystadleuaeth gyfeillgar. Dangosodd y grŵp ddewrder a gwaith tîm go iawn yn ystod rafftio dŵr gwyn, cyn newid i hwyl egnïol gyda thag laser a bowlio. Fe wnaethant gloi'r wythnos gyda gweithgareddau coedwig yn y Celtic Manor, lle cwblhaon nhw'r cwrs rhaffau uchel a saethyddiaeth, gan herio eu hunain.

Helping Children to Take Their Next Steps to Independence: Make Choices
As part of our work on developing independence, each strand of our framework focuses on a different aspect of how children learn to take responsibility for their own thinking and actions. Today, we turn to Making Choices.
Making choices is a strand of independence that helps children understand that their actions shape their experiences. It is not about giving children unlimited freedom. It is about helping them recognise that even small decisions carry meaning, and that thoughtful choices build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of ownership over learning. Staff support this by offering structured opportunities for children to decide how they will approach a task, what tools they will use, or which strategy will help them move forward. These moments show children that their judgement matters and that they can influence the outcome of their work.
Children begin by choosing between simple, concrete options. They might decide which pencil to use, where to sit, or which book to start with. These early choices are small, but they help children understand that decisions have consequences. As they grow, they learn to weigh up what they need, what the task requires, and what will help them succeed. Later, they begin to make choices that involve planning, such as deciding the order in which to complete steps or selecting a strategy that suits the challenge. Staff guide this development by modelling how to think aloud, by explaining the reasons behind their own decisions, and by encouraging children to reflect on how their choices affected their progress.
Families can nurture this habit at home by creating moments where children can make meaningful decisions. These do not need to be large or complicated. Choosing which chore to do first, deciding how to organise their school bag, or selecting a place to complete homework all help children practise thinking ahead. When adults talk through their own decision making, for example “I am going to start with this job because it will take the longest,” children learn how to consider options and plan their actions. When a child makes a choice, a simple comment such as “You picked the quieter room so you could concentrate” helps them connect their decision with its effect.
Children benefit from opportunities to revisit their choices. When something does not go as expected, adults can help them reflect without judgement. Asking “What might you try next time?” encourages children to see decision making as a skill that improves with practice rather than something they must get right every time. This builds resilience and helps children understand that choices are part of learning, not a test of ability.
Making choices is not about independence for its own sake. It is about helping children understand themselves as learners. When they know how to select tools, plan their approach, and adjust their decisions when needed, they become more confident and more capable of managing their own learning. This sense of agency supports them in school and prepares them for the wider world, where thoughtful decision making is essential.

The Big Sleep
Year 6 have enjoyed an unforgettable few days of experiences! Their visit to the BBC Studios gave them a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes, with pupils stepping into the world of broadcasting and learning how programmes come to life. The celebrations continued back at school with a relaxed pizza night and a visit from the games‑console van, which brought plenty of fun and friendly competition. The group showed real courage and teamwork during white water rafting, before switching to high‑energy fun with laser tag and bowling. They rounded off the week with forest activities at the Celtic Manor, where they completed the high ropes course and archery, challenged themselves.

Huge Thanks to the PTA
We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the PTA for their generosity in providing Easter eggs for every child at Ysgol Panteg. Their support added a lovely moment of excitement to the end of term, and the children were delighted to take home a small seasonal treat.

Easter Bonnet Parade
Progress Step 1 brought a burst of colour and springtime cheer to Ysgol Panteg today as pupils took part in our Easter bonnet parade. The children arrived with an array of beautifully crafted bonnets! There were bright flowers, chicks, and even dinosaurs! Diolch yn fawr!

Graduation for Our Eighth Cohort
Today we celebrate the completion of Carreg Lam’s eighth cohort, marking the end of a focused and uplifting journey in Welsh language learning. Yesterday’s graduation ceremony brought pupils, families, and staff together to recognise the commitment and steady progress each learner has made.
