Dros yr ychydig fisoedd diwethaf, rydym wedi gweld mwy o blant yn cael mynediad i gemau nad ydynt yn addas ar gyfer eu hoedran a’u lefel aeddfedrwydd.
Mae graddfeydd PEGI, a sefydlwyd gan y system Gwybodaeth Gêm Pan-Ewropeaidd, yn arf hanfodol i rieni lywio byd cymhleth gemau fideo a gwneud penderfyniadau gwybodus ynghylch pa gynnwys sy'n addas ar gyfer eu plant. Mae'r graddfeydd hyn yn darparu argymhellion oedran a disgrifyddion cynnwys, gan gynnig arweiniad gwerthfawr ar briodoldeb gemau fideo ar gyfer gwahanol grwpiau oedran.
Mae deall pob sgôr PEGI a'i esboniad cyfatebol yn hanfodol i rieni sicrhau bod eu plant yn ymgysylltu â phrofiadau hapchwarae diogel sy'n briodol i'w hoedran.
PEGI 3: Addas i Bob Oedran
Mae gemau gyda'r sgôr hwn yn cael eu hystyried yn addas ar gyfer pob oedran. Gallant gynnwys ychydig iawn o drais, iaith ysgafn, neu gynnwys sy'n annhebygol o fod yn niweidiol i blant.
PEGI 7: Trais Ysgafn
Mae'r sgôr hwn yn nodi y gall y gêm gynnwys golygfeydd o drais neu ofn ysgafn. Er nad yw’r trais yn realistig nac yn ddwys, fe all fod yn anaddas o hyd i blant ifanc iawn.
PEGI 12: Trais Cymedrol, Iaith Fân
Gall gemau â sgôr PEGI 12 gynnwys golygfeydd mwy aml neu ddwys o drais, gan gynnwys darluniau o drais nad yw'n realistig yn erbyn cymeriadau dynol neu ffantasi. Gallant hefyd gynnwys iaith ysgafn.
PEGI 16: Trais Cryf, Iaith Gref
Mae'r sgôr hon yn dynodi gemau gyda darluniau mwy graffig neu realistig o drais, gan gynnwys gwaed neu gore. Gall iaith gref a themâu defnyddio cyffuriau neu ensyniadau rhywiol fod yn bresennol hefyd.
PEGI 18: Trais Eithafol, Iaith Gref, Gamblo
Mae gemau sydd â sgôr PEGI 18 yn cynnwys golygfeydd amlwg o drais, gan gynnwys darluniau realistig o waed, trais, neu gynnwys rhywiol. Gallant hefyd gynnwys iaith gref, cyfeiriadau cyffuriau, neu elfennau o gamblo.
Mae disgrifyddion cynnwys yn cyd-fynd â phob sgôr PEGI sy'n darparu gwybodaeth ychwanegol am yr elfennau penodol sy'n bresennol mewn gêm. Mae'r disgrifyddion hyn yn helpu rhieni i ddeall natur y cynnwys a gwneud penderfyniadau gwybodus ynghylch a yw gêm yn addas ar gyfer eu plentyn.
Un o'r elfennau mwyaf hanfodol i'w ddeall hefyd yw natur y gêm o ryngweithiadau ar-lein. Mae gemau gyda’r tag sy’n dangos ‘rhyngweithiadau ar-lein’ yn amlygu nodweddion sy’n caniatáu i chwaraewyr ryngweithio ag eraill ar-lein, gan eu hamlygu o bosibl i gynnwys a chyfathrebu a gynhyrchir gan ddefnyddwyr. Dyma un o’r materion mwyaf yr ydym yn ei weld yn yr ysgol – ac mewn nifer o achosion mae’n fater diogelu i ni. Yn aml nid yw rhieni'n sylweddoli lefel y rhyngweithio ar-lein a'r cyfathrebu o berson i berson sy'n gysylltiedig â gemau â graddfeydd PEGI is. Rydym yn cael gwybod am nifer o achosion gyda defnydd o iaith hiliol, ddirmygus a rhywiol - ac, a dweud y gwir, rydym yn bryderus iawn am y duedd yr ydym yn ei gweld.
Mae deall graddfeydd PEGI yn hanfodol i rieni am sawl rheswm. Yn gyntaf ac yn bennaf, mae'n eich helpu i amddiffyn eich plant rhag dod i gysylltiad â chynnwys amhriodol a allai fod yn niweidiol neu'n aflonyddu. Trwy ddewis gemau sy'n cyd-fynd ag oedran a lefel aeddfedrwydd eich plentyn, gall rhieni sicrhau profiad hapchwarae mwy diogel a chadarnhaol.
Rydym yn gweld bod graddfeydd PEGI yn eich grymuso chi fel rhieni a ninnau fel addysgwyr i gymryd rhan mewn sgyrsiau ystyrlon gyda phlant am ddefnydd o'r cyfryngau a llythrennedd digidol. Trwy drafod arwyddocâd graddfeydd PEGI a chynnwys plant yn y broses o wneud penderfyniadau, gall rhieni hybu sgiliau meddwl beirniadol ac arferion chwarae cyfrifol.

Taith Sain Ffagan
Ddydd Gwener, roedd ein taith Cam Cynnydd 2 yn llwyddiant mawr gyda phlant wrth eu bodd yn archwilio holl gilfachau amgueddfa awyr agored Cymru. Dysgodd y plant am wahanol elfennau o fywyd yng Nghymru yn yr oes a fu. Llawer o ddysgu, llawer o awyr iach a llawer o wenu!
Mae'r plant yn gyffrous iawn i fod yn dylunio eu pamffledi eu hunain nawr yn hysbysebu'r atyniad.

Bydd y grŵp dawns yn perfformio yn Theatr y Congress ar ddydd Llun yr 20fed o Fai. Tocynnau ar gyfer Perfformiad Dawns y Gyngres yn mynd ar werth dydd Mawrth 30 Ebrill am 9am (heddiw).
Maen nhw’n £5 yr un ac ar gael o’r theatr yn uniongyrchol (ar-lein neu wyneb yn wyneb).
Bydd y plant yn perfformio nos Lun, 20fed o Fai. Mae'r perfformiad yn dechrau am 7pm. Er bod angen i blant fod yno am 6:15pm i gael eu cludo i'r ystafelloedd newid i baratoi.

Cyfarfodydd Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion Dewisol - Atgof
Rhwng dydd Llun, 13eg o Fai a dydd Mercher, 15fed o Fai, rydym wedi neilltuo amser i deuluoedd sy’n dymuno cyfarfod â staff ar gyfer cyfarfod Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion. Mae hyn yn rhan o’n hymrwymiad parhaus i roi gwybod i chi am gynnydd eich plentyn.

Cystadleuaeth Tyfu Blodau Haul - Atgof
Ydych chi'n barod am yr her o dyfu blodyn haul talaf Ysgol Panteg?
Mae Ffrindiau Panteg yn rhoi citiau at ei gilydd yn cynnwys pot, pridd, hadau a chyfarwyddiadau y gellir eu prynu am £1.50 naill ai yn bersonol o plaza'r ysgol ar Ddydd Gwener Mai 3ydd rhwng 2.30pm a 4pm. Os yw'ch plentyn yn dal y bws adref / yn mynd at ddarparwr gofal plant gellir ei archebu ymlaen llaw ar-lein a bydd yn cael ei anfon adref gyda'r plentyn.
Bydd gwobr ar gyfer y blodyn haul talaf ac mae angen cyflwyno pob cais erbyn yr 2il o Fedi.
Bydd yr holl elw yn mynd tuag at ein nod codi arian ar gyfer yr offer maes chwarae newydd.

PEGI Ratings and Understanding Appropriate Gaming Content
Over the last few months, we’ve seen more children accessing games that are not suitable for their age and maturity level.
PEGI ratings, established by the Pan European Game Information system, are a vital tool for parents to navigate the complex world of video games and make informed decisions about what content is suitable for their children. These ratings provide age recommendations and content descriptors, offering valuable guidance on the appropriateness of video games for different age groups.
Understanding each PEGI rating and its corresponding explanation is essential for parents to ensure their children engage with age-appropriate and safe gaming experiences.
PEGI 3: Suitable for All Ages
Games with this rating are considered suitable for all ages. They may contain minimal violence, mild language, or content that is unlikely to be harmful to children.
PEGI 7: Mild Violence
This rating indicates that the game may contain scenes of mild violence or fear. While the violence is not realistic or intense, it may still be unsuitable for very young children.
PEGI 12: Moderate Violence, Mild Language
Games rated PEGI 12 may feature more frequent or intense scenes of violence, including depictions of non-realistic violence against human or fantasy characters. They may also contain mild language.
PEGI 16: Strong Violence, Strong Language
This rating denotes games with more graphic or realistic depictions of violence, including blood or gore. Strong language and themes of drug use or sexual innuendo may also be present.
PEGI 18: Extreme Violence, Strong Language, Gambling
Games rated PEGI 18 contain explicit scenes of violence, including realistic depictions of blood, gore, or sexual content. They may also feature strong language, drug references, or elements of gambling.
Each PEGI rating is accompanied by content descriptors that provide additional information about the specific elements present in a game. These descriptors help parents understand the nature of the content and make informed decisions about whether a game is suitable for their child.
One of the most crucial elements to also understand is the game’s nature of online Interactions. Games with the tag showing ‘online interactions’ highlights features that allow players to interact with others online, potentially exposing them to user-generated content and communication. This is one of the biggest issues we are seeing at school - and in a number of cases it is a safeguarding issue for us. Parents often do not realise the level of online interaction and person to person communication involved in games with lower PEGI ratings. We are having a number of cases reported to us with the use of racist, derogatory and sexual language - and, frankly, we are very concerned about the trend we are seeing.
Understanding PEGI ratings is crucial for parents for several reasons. First and foremost, it helps you to protect your children from exposure to inappropriate content that may be harmful or disturbing. By choosing games that align with your child's age and maturity level, parents can ensure a safer and more positive gaming experience.
We find that PEGI ratings empower you as parents and us as educators to engage in meaningful conversations with children about media consumption and digital literacy. By discussing the significance of PEGI ratings and involving children in the decision-making process, parents can promote critical thinking skills and responsible gaming habits.
If I am unsure of the content of a game, its strengths and dangers, I visit Common Sense Media which is a fantastic website which gives a 1 minute overview of games, films, books, apps and other online content. Before your child begins playing on any game or app, I encourage you to check it out on https://www.commonsensemedia.org so that you can make an informed judgement.

YEARS 1 TO 3
St. Fagans’ Trip
On Friday, our Progress Step 2 trip was a great success with children loving exploring all the nooks and crannies of Wales’ open air museum. The children learnt about different elements of life in Wales in a bygone era. Lots of learning, lots of fresh air and lots of smiles!
The children are really excited to be designing their own pamphlets now advertising the attraction.

On Tuesday, 7th of May (next week), we have Colorfoto coming in to take class photographs. The team will be here throughout the day and we will provide links for you to purchase the photographs as soon as we are able to.

Dance Competition
The dance group will be performing at the Congress Theatre on Monday the 20th of May. Tickets for the Congress Dance Performance go on sale Tuesday 30th April at 9am (today).
They are £5 each and available from the theatre direct (online or in person).
The children will be performing on Monday, 20th of May. The performance starts at 7pm. Although children need to be there at 6:15pm to be taken to the dressing rooms to prepare.

Optional Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings - Reminder
Between Monday, 13th of May and Wednesday, 15th of May, we have set aside time for families who wish to meet with staff for a Pupil Progress and Wellbeing meeting. This is part of our ongoing commitment to keep you informed of your child’s progress.
This year, there have been two Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings already. You have also received an interim report before Christmas and a full school report before Easter. At the end of this term, you will receive a one page interim report again.
If you wish to take up this offer of an additional meeting, all you need to do is to contact your teacher through ClassDojo or email the office (office.ysgolpanteg@torfaen.gov.uk) and we will be back in contact with you to arrange a time and date.
FFRINDIAU PANTEG
Sunflower Growing Competition - Reminder
Are you up for the challenge of growing the tallest sunflower of Ysgol Panteg?
Ffrindiau Panteg are putting together kits containing a pot, soil, seeds and instructions that can be purchased for £1.50 either in person from the school plaza on Friday 3rd May between 2.30pm and 4pm . If your child catches the bus home / goes to a childcare provider they can be preordered online and will be sent home with the child.
There will be a prize for the tallest sunflower and all entries need to be submitted by the 2nd September.
All proceeds will go towards our fundraising goal for the new playground equipment.
