Annwyl Deuluoedd,

Ymweliad Heledd Fychan â Phanteg

Roeddem yn gyffrous iawn i groesawu’r Aelod y Senedd, Heledd Fychan, i’n hysgol ddoe. Daeth i ddarganfod mwy am yr hyn sy’n gwneud Ysgol Panteg yn lle gwych i ddysgu. Treuliodd Heledd Fychan amser yn darganfod beth am ein hymagwedd at anghenion dysgu ychwanegol, lles a dysgu. Ymwelodd hi hefyd â Charreg Lam, canolfan drochi Cymraeg Torfaen, sydd wedi'i lleoli ar ein gwefan i ddarganfod sut rydym yn cefnogi plant i drosglwyddo i addysg cyfrwng Cymraeg.

BLWYDDYN 6

Betty Campbell - Cynhyrchiad Drama

Ddoe, cafodd Blwyddyn 6 y fraint o gael ymweliad gan gwmni theatr ‘Mewn Cymeriad’ i berfformio sioe am fywyd yr arwr Cymreig Betty Campbell. Clywodd Betty Campbell na allai merch ddu o'r dosbarth gweithiol fyth lwyddo ond profodd ei hamheuwyr yn anghywir yn y ffordd fwyaf ysbrydoledig. Hi oedd prifathro croenddu cyntaf Cymru a bu’n hyrwyddo treftadaeth amlddiwylliannol ein cenedl drwy gydol ei hoes. Does ryfedd fod Nelson Mandela wedi chwilio amdani ar ei unig ymweliad â Chymru. Yn enedigol o Butetown, cafodd Betty ei magu yn nhlodi Tiger Bay. Cafodd ei mam drafferth i gael dau ben llinyn ynghyd ar ôl i’w thad gael ei ladd yn yr Ail Ryfel Byd. Roedd y sioe yn gipolwg gwych ar ei bywyd a'i phenderfyniad.

Heledd Fychan's Visit to Panteg

We were very excited to welcome the Member of the Senedd, Heledd Fychan, to our school yesterday. She came to find out more about what makes Ysgol Panteg a great place to learn. Heledd Fychan spent time find out how about our approach to additional learning needs, wellbeing and learning. She also visited Carreg Lam, Torfaen's Welsh immersion centre, located on our site to discover how we support children to transition into Welsh medium education.

YEAR 6

Betty Campbell - Drama Production

Yesterday, Year 6 were privileged to have a visit from the theatre company 'Mewn Cymeriad' to perform a show about the life of the Welsh hero Betty Campbell. Betty Campbell was told a working-class black girl could never succeed but she proved her doubters wrong in the most inspirational way. She became Wales' first black headteacher and championed our nation's multicultural heritage throughout her life. No wonder Nelson Mandela sought her out on his only visit to Wales. Born in Butetown, Betty was raised in the poverty of Tiger Bay. Her mother struggled to make ends meet after her father was killed in the Second World War. The show was a great insight into her life and determination.

Wellbeing Week and Children in Need Day

As previously announced, on Friday, 17th of November (this week!), we are holding an odd socks day to mark ‘Children in Need’ day. Some children have Children in Need t-shirts or other accessories, they are welcome to wear those on the day, but our focus is odd socks day. If families wish to give to this charity, we will gladly pass on a £1 donation, however, we are conscious that we have only just held a charity collection for Just One Tree.
