Mae'n bwysig iawn bod pob plentyn yn darllen amrywiaeth o ddeunydd darllen - mae rhai plant yn caru nofelau a llyfrau stori tra bod eraill yn amsugno ffeithiau trwy ddarllen. Mae'n bwysig ein bod yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth i gael ein plant i ddarllen amrywiaeth o genres oherwydd bod yr iaith, y eirfa a'r arddull yn wahanol. Mae hefyd yn agor pynciau hollol newydd iddynt ddysgu amdanynt. Roedd fy mam bob amser yn arfer dweud y gallwch chi fynd i unrhyw le pan rydych chi'n darllen llyfr oherwydd ei fod yn agor bydoedd newydd.
Mae testunau ffeithiol yn genre enfawr o ysgrifennu - fel llyfrau ffeithiau, Guinness Book of Records, First News (papur newydd i blant), cefnau pecynnau grawnfwyd ... mae'r rhestr yn mynd ymlaen!

Bore Coffi MacMillan - ATGOF OLAF
Yn dilyn ymlaen o lwyddiant aruthrol Bore Coffi a Chacen MacMillan y llynedd, Ddydd Gwener yma, rydym yn bwriadu cynnal bore agored yn yr ysgol er budd Cymorth Canser MacMillan. Byddwn yn agor y drysau i gael mamau a thadau, mamau-cu a thadau-cu, ewythrod a modrybedd, i mewn i'n neuadd am de, coffi a chacen. Bydd plant yn gallu prynu cacen hefyd. Bydd yr holl elw yn mynd i gefnogi’r gwaith gwych y mae MacMillan yn ei wneud i gefnogi pobl sy’n dioddef o wahanol gamau o ganser ac i gefnogi eu teuluoedd. Rhowch y dyddiad yn eich dyddiadur! Dydw i ddim yn dda am bobi, felly byddai'n well i mi ddechrau ymarfer.
1) Rydym yn gwahodd rhieni ac aelodau’r teulu i’r ysgol rhwng 9.30 a 11.15.
2) Rydym yn gofyn i deuluoedd gyfrannu cacennau (cacennau bach, cacennau torth, sbyngau, cacennau llawn ac ati). Gall y rhain fod yn gacennau cartref neu wedi'u prynu. Cofiwch nid ydyn ni’n gallu cael cnau yn yr ysgol.
3) Bydd ein plant Blwyddyn 6 yn mynychu stondinau.
4) Bydd llawer o gacennau a chacennau cwpan ar werth er mwyn codi arian i Ofal Canser MacMillan.
5) Bydd cystadleuaeth cacennau hefyd. Mae staff ein cegin yn edrych ymlaen at feirniadu cynigion teuluoedd. Er mwyn cymryd rhan yn y gystadleuaeth hon, gofynnwn i chi labelu eich tun cacen neu'ch blwch yn dangos eich bod am iddo fynd i mewn i'r gystadleuaeth. Cyfarfodydd Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion - Cofrestrwch Nawr!
Fel y cyhoeddwyd yn flaenorol, mae'r amser yn dod i fyny ar gyfer ein Cyfarfodydd Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion cyntaf (a elwid yn flaenorol yn nosweithiau rhieni). Mae'r amser bellach wedi dod i chi roi gwybod i ni am eich argaeledd ar gyfer dydd Llun 9fed Hydref, dydd Mawrth 10fed o Hydref a dydd Mercher 11eg Hydref.
Fel y gwelwch o'r ddolen uchod, rydym yn cynnig y cyfarfodydd hyn trwy dri dull. Ein dull dewisol yw y byddech chi'n mynychu'r cyfarfod mewn person yn yr ysgol. Fodd bynnag, rydym hefyd yn cynnig ymgynghoriadau ffôn a Microsoft Teams.
Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer gadael i ni wybod mai'ch argaeledd yw dydd Mercher, 4ydd o Hydref am 9am. Yna bydd athro eich plentyn yn trefnu amser apwyntiad mwy penodol yn seiliedig ar eich argaeledd. Bydd y rhain yn cael eu rhoi allan ar sail y cyntaf i'r felin-felly, cofrestrwch yn gynnar!
Yn ystod yr wythnos hon, ni fydd unrhyw glybiau ysgol yn rhedeg er mwyn caniatáu i staff gwrdd â theuluoedd. Bydd y clybiau hynny sy'n cael eu rhedeg gan yr Urdd a Menter Iaith yn parhau fel arfer.
Fel ysgol, ein disgwyliad yw y byddwn yn cwrdd â phob teulu ar draws y tridiau hyn. Mae ein cyfarfodydd cynnydd a lles disgyblion yn bwysig am sawl rheswm:
1) Cyfathrebu: Maent yn darparu amser pwrpasol i rieni, gofalwyr ac athrawon drafod lles, cynnydd, perfformiad academaidd ac ymddygiad plentyn wrth feithrin cyfathrebu agored.
2) Partneriaeth: Maent yn cryfhau'r bartneriaeth rhwng teuluoedd ac athrawon, gan eu galluogi i weithio gyda'i gilydd i gefnogi datblygiad pob plentyn.
3) Deall Cynnydd: Mae teuluoedd yn cael gwell dealltwriaeth o gryfderau, gwendidau ac anghenion dysgu eu plentyn, sy'n helpu i deilwra cefnogaeth gartref.
4) Cymhelliant: Gall adborth cadarnhaol ac awgrymiadau adeiladol gan athrawon ysgogi'r ddau blentyn i wella.
5) Ymyrraeth gynnar: Gellir nodi problemau neu bryderon yn gynnar, gan ganiatáu ar gyfer ymyrraeth a chefnogaeth amserol i fynd i'r afael â heriau lles, academaidd neu ymddygiadol.

Non-Fiction Reading Questions
Its really important that all children read a variety of material - some children love novels and storybooks whilst others devour non-fiction. Its important that we work in partnership to get our children to read a variety of styles because the language, vocabulary and style is different. It also opens up whole new subjects for them to learn about. My mother always used to say that you can go anywhere when you are reading a book because it opens up new worlds.
Non-fiction is a huge genre of writing - books like fact books, Guinness Book of Records, First News (a children's newspaper), backs of cereal packets... the list goes on!
Following on from a previous bulletin, I shared questions you can ask your child whilst reading fiction (https://www.ysgolpanteg.cymru/post/y2023-m09-d15), here are a list of non-fiction questions that are really helpful! They go from easiest to harder!

MacMillan Cake and Coffee Morning - FINAL REMINDER
Following on from the tremendous success of last year's MacMillan Cake and Coffee Morning, this Friday, we are planning to hold an open morning at the school in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support. We will be throwing open the doors to get mums and dads, grannies and grandads, uncles and aunties, into our hall for tea, coffee and cake. Children will be able to purchase cake too. All proceeds will go to support the wonderful work that MacMillan do to support people suffering from various stages of cancer and to support their families.
1) We are inviting parents and family members to school between 9.30 and 11.15.
2) We are asking families to donate cakes (cupcakes, loaf bakes, sponges, full cakes etc). These can be home made or purchased cakes. Please remember that we cannot have nuts at school.
3) Stalls will be attended by our Year 6 children.
4) Slices of cake and cupcakes will be for sale in order to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care.
5) There will also be a cake competition. Our kitchen staff are looking forward to judging families’ entries. In order to enter this competition, we ask that you label your cake tin or box showing that you want it to go into the competition. There is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for taste and the same for presentation! Frankly, mine might taste ok - but might look like it’s been sat on!
6) To make it easy, we are asking that the children bring in a donation of £1 or more for which they will receive cake.
7) For families who attend, we will bring your child from the class so that you can have cake with them. Other children will be brought down to the cake sale in their class groups throughout the morning.
8) Tea and coffee will also be available to buy.

Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings - Sign Up Now!
As announced previously, the time is coming up for our first Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings (previously called Parents' Consultations). The time has now come for you to let us know your availability for Monday 9th of October, Tuesday 10th of October and Wednesday 11th of October.
As you will see from the above link, we are offering these meetings through three methods. Our preferred method is that you would attend the meeting in person at the school. However, we also offer telephone and Microsoft Teams consultations.
The closing date for letting us know your availability is Wednesday, 4th of October at 9am. Your child's teacher will then arrange a more specific appointment time based on your availability. These will be given out on a first-come-first-served basis - so, sign up early!
During this week, no school-run clubs will be running allowing staff to meet with families. Those clubs run by the Urdd and Menter Iaith will continue as usual.
As a school, it is our expectation that we will meet with every family across these three days. Our Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings are important for several reasons:
1) Communication: They provide a dedicated time for parents, carers and teachers to discuss a child's wellbeing, progress, academic performance, and behaviour whilst fostering open communication.
2) Partnership: They strengthen the partnership between families and teachers, enabling them to work together to support each child's development.
3) Understanding Progress: Families gain a better understanding of their child's strengths, weaknesses, and learning needs, which helps in tailoring support at home.
4) Motivation: Positive feedback and constructive suggestions from teachers can motivate both children to improve.
5) Early Intervention: Problems or concerns can be identified early, allowing for timely intervention and support to address wellbeing, academic or behavioural challenges.
6) Goal Setting: Families and teachers can set goals together, ensuring alignment in your child's educational journey. In a nutshell, we will all be singing from the same hymn sheet!
