Ymweliad Mr Tom

Roeddem mor falch o fynd â’n plant i weld Goodnight Mister Tom wythnos diwethaf yn Theatr Fach Coed Duon. Ddoe, roedd yn bleser gennym groesawu Rob Murphy oedd yn chwarae rhan Mr Tom Oakley i’r ysgol i gynnal sesiwn holi ac ateb. Roedd y plant wrth eu bodd â hyn - mae'n rhaid ei fod wedi arwyddo 200 o lofnod!

PAWB

Oeddech chi'n gwybod…?

Am bob munud y mae car yn eistedd wedi'i barcio mewn maes parcio, fel ein un ni, gyda'i injan yn dal ymlaen, mae’n cynhyrchu digon o allyriadau i lenwi 160 o falŵns? Gyda hynny mewn golwg, plis diffoddwch eich injan os ydych yn aros yn y maes parcio.

Hello Families!

What a busy week it has been at Ysgol Panteg. The close of our second week back has felt like we’ve never been away!

EVERYONE

Flu Immunisations

The School Nursing Service will be visiting the school to offer pupils a nasal flu spray vaccine on Friday, 29th of September.

The consent form can be completed here: https://forms.office.com/e/eyggpck0Kf

Please submit one form per child no later than 48 hours before the above date. Any consent forms submitted after this time may result in your child not receiving their vaccine on the day. Should you have any difficulties accessing the above link, please contact 01633 431685 for further support.

We understand that there are some differing views with regards to vaccinations. However, we believe it is very important to protect your child from flu to make sure they stay as healthy as possible, as flu is likely to circulate this winter. The best flu vaccine for most children is a nasal spray. So, this is not an injection with a needle. For information about flu vaccination please visit www.phw.nhs.wales/fluvaccine.

YEARS 4-6

Visit of Mr Tom

We were so pleased to take our children to see Goodnight Mister Tom last week at the Blackwood Little Theatre. Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome Rob Murphy who played Mr Tom Oakley to the school to hold a question and answer session. The children loved this - he must have signed 200 autographs!

EVERYONE

Dogs on Site

Over the last couple of days, we seen a few people bring dogs in to our school site. We’ve spoken to individuals about this. Please be aware that we do not allow dogs (of any size) on to our school site. The exception to this is our therapy dog and her trained handler.

EVERYONE

Did you know…?

For every minute a car sits parked in a car park, such as ours, with its engine still on, produces enough emissions to fill 160 balloons? With that in mind, please switch off your engine if you are waiting in the car park.

EVERYONE

Estyn

As you will know from Tuesday’s Bulletin, Estyn will be in to inspect the school on Monday, 25th of September to Thursday 26th of September.

There will be a parents meeting in the school hall on Monday, 25th of September. We expect this to be at 3:45-4:45. Estyn have requested that no children be present at this meeting. Therefore, we will be running some childcare for those who wish to go. So that we can staff it properly, please let us know if you require childcare by filling in the following link:

Don’t forget about the questionnaire for parents:

This will be open until the 17th of September at 11pm.

YEARS 1-6

Clubs

The is an advance notice that on the Monday, 25th of September and Tuesday, 26th of September, there will be no school run clubs. This is for one week and the reason is two fold: (1) so that we can provide a crèche for families who wish to attend the Estyn parents meeting since they have requested that no children are present at that meeting, and (2) so that the staff can hold meetings with Estyn and be interviewed.

YEAR 6

Lego Club

Menter Iaith are hoping to launch a Year 6 Lego club in order to enter a lego building competition. This, currently, is open to Year 6 only unfortunately. This will be held on a Wednesday between 3:30 and 4:30 and will be free of charge. If enough people sign up, this will begin next week.

Follow the link to sign up:

YEARS 3-6

Torfaen Play - After School Club

We have managed to organise the return of the ‘Torfaen Play’s Wellbeing Play Club’. This will take place every Thursday from 3:30-4:30 and will be free of charge. This

Please email torfaenplay@torfaen.gov.uk to register.

EVERYONE

Welsh Medium Showcase

As you already know, Torfaen Council has a range of Welsh-language education provisions from baby and toddler age through to secondary school.

Next week, the team who supports early years education is holding a Welsh Medium Showcase at the Congress Theatre to help parents understand the options available.

The free event will run from 10am until 12pm on Saturday 23 September and is open to all parents with children birth age up to 11 years old.

Lots of fun activities will be on offer for the whole family to take part in, including Welsh singing, Welsh story time sessions, face painting and balloon modelling.

Ysgol Panteg and Carreg Lam will be running stalls at this event!

Who do you know who you could encourage to attend?

EVERYONE

Questions for Reading

When I speak to people about reading with their child two things tend to come out somewhere in the conversation. Firstly, they don’t want to get it wrong. I always respond with it is better to try and if you have any problem with Welsh pronunciation, just speak to one of us, send a Dojo message or if your child is younger we have recorded some of the books they will be reading so you can hear how the sounds are built up.

And, secondly, they don’t know what types of questions to ask. Well, the remainder of today’s bulletin is simply to share a list of questions that are levelled from easy to hard that you might find useful. I’ve attached a PDF of this too. If you would like a print out of this - just ask and we can get one done for you.
