UNICEF a Siarter Ein Hysgol
Rydym yn Ysgol sy’n Parchu Hawliau UNICEF ac rydym wrth ein bodd ein bod wedi ennill y Wobr Efydd y llynedd. Ond, nid ydym yn stopio yno! Ein huchelgais fel ysgol yw cyflawni lefel uchaf y wobr. Pam? Yn syml oherwydd bod ein plant yn haeddu’r gofal, y dysgu a’r gefnogaeth orau sydd gennym i’w cynnig. Rydym am fod yn ysgol sydd wedi gwreiddio egwyddorion Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn yn llawn. Y llynedd, fe ddechreuon ni gasglu momentwm o ddifrif – ac felly, ar gynllun datblygu’r ysgol eleni mae’n un o’r prif nodweddion.
Beth yw Ysgol sy'n Parchu Hawliau?
Mae Ysgol sy’n Parchu Hawliau UNICEF yn gymuned lle mae hawliau plant yn cael eu clywed, eu haddysgu, eu hymarfer, eu parchu, eu hamddiffyn a’u hyrwyddo. Mae plant a chymuned yr ysgol yn dysgu am hawliau plant trwy eu rhoi ar waith bob dydd.
Mae bod yn Ysgol sy'n Parchu Hawliau nid yn unig yn ymwneud â'r hyn y mae plant yn ei wneud ond hefyd yn bwysig, yr hyn y mae oedolion yn ei wneud. Mewn Ysgol sy’n Parchu Hawliau, mae hawliau plant yn cael eu hyrwyddo a’u gwireddu ac mae oedolion a phlant yn gweithio tuag at hyn gyda’i gilydd.
Mae Gwobr Ysgol sy’n Parchu Hawliau (RRSA) yn cydnabod cyflawniad wrth roi Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn wrth galon cynllunio, polisïau, arferion ac ethos yr ysgol.
Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau'r Plentyn (CCUHP) - Beth ydyw?
Mae’n rhestr o hawliau plant sydd gan bob plentyn a pherson ifanc, ym mhob man yn y byd, ni waeth pwy ydyn nhw, ble maen nhw’n byw neu beth maen nhw’n credu ynddo. Mae wedi’i mabwysiadu gan lawer o wledydd yn gyfraith - ond nid pob un.
Mae gan CCUHP 54 o erthyglau, mae 42 o hawliau ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc hyd at 18 oed. Mae'r lleill i gyd yn ymwneud â sut y dylai llywodraethau ac oedolion weithio gyda'i gilydd i sicrhau bod plant a phobl ifanc yn gallu cyrchu eu hawliau.
Hawliau plant yw’r holl bethau sydd eu hangen ar blant a phobl ifanc i sicrhau eu bod yn ddiogel, yn cael y pethau sydd eu hangen arnynt i oroesi a datblygu, ac yn cael dweud eu dweud mewn penderfyniadau sy’n effeithio ar eu bywydau.

Ein Siarter Ysgol
Ddiwedd y flwyddyn diwethaf, wrth baratoi ar gyfer y flwyddyn ysgol newydd, bu ein hysgol gyfan, dan arweiniad y Cyngor Ysgol, yn cydweithio i greu Siarter Ysgol Gyfan. Bydd hyn yn ein helpu i wreiddio gwerthoedd ein hysgol ymhellach, sef bod yn garedig, bod yn deulu, bod yn angerddol a bod yn uchelgeisiol. Dyma ein cytundeb syml ar y cyd ynglŷn â’n disgwyliadau o ran sut mae’n rhaid i bob aelod o gymuned ein hysgol barchu hawliau.
Cynhaliwyd cystadleuaeth y llynedd yn chwilio am ddyluniadau i arddangos hyn ym mhob dosbarth. Penderfynodd y Cyngor Ysgol uno ychydig o ddyluniadau ac felly heddiw lansiwyd Siarter yr Ysgol yn ein gwasanaeth.

Clybiau ar ol Ysgol
Diolch i bawb a ymunodd â chlybiau ar ôl ysgol. Fel y gwyddoch o fwletin dydd Mawrth, mae rhai o’r clybiau hyn yn cael eu rhedeg gan yr ysgol a rhai yn cael eu rhedeg gan yr Urdd. Ar gyfer clybiau mewn ysgolion, mae'r cynllun cofrestru bellach wedi cau ac mae llythyron'n cael eu hanfon heddiw. Os yw'ch plentyn yn colli'r llythyr, peidiwch â phoeni! Gall y swyddfa eich helpu chi ddydd Llun!
Rydym yn gobeithio y bydd dau glwb arall yn rhedeg y tymor hwn hefyd - Clwb Lego yn cael ei redeg gan Menter Iaith a Gemau gyda Chwarae Torfaen. Byddaf mewn cysylltiad ynglŷn â’r clybiau hyn pan fydd y sefydliadau wedi cwblhau eu cynlluniau terfynol.
BLWYDDYN 6
Goodnight, Mister Tom
Cawsom noson wych neithiwr yn Theatr Fach Coed Duon yn gwylio ‘Goodnight, Mister Tom’! Cafodd ei hactio’n wych gyda’r prif gymeriadau’n ymddwyn mor ddilys ac ystyrlon. Mwynheais i, am un, ail-gydio yn y stori hon eto. Pan oeddwn yn athro dosbarth, dyma oedd un o fy hoff lyfrau i addysgu. Roedd y plant wedi mwynhau eu hunain yn fawr iawn a bydd hyn yn rhoi ysbrydoliaeth fawr i'w gwaith dros yr wythnosau nesaf. Mae yna rai straeon y dylai pob cenhedlaeth ddod ar eu traws ac, felly, roedd yn wych bod ein plant yn cael profi'r chwedl epig a llawer ohonyn nhw am y tro cyntaf. (Maen nhw’n flinedig heddiw ar ôl eu noson hwyr!)

BLYNYDDOEDD 2-6
Y Gwasanaeth Tân
Rydym wedi bod yn ffodus iawn yr wythnos hon i gael y Gwasanaeth Tân i mewn i arwain rhai sesiynau gyda’r plant am ddiogelwch tân. Yna, cafodd y plant gyfle i fynd allan i weld yr injan dân a saethu dŵr! Roedden nhw'n hynod gyffrous!
PAWB
Ysgol Ddi-gnau
Rydym ni yn Ysgol Panteg yn anelu at fod yn ysgol Ddi-Gnau. Nod yr ysgol yw amddiffyn plant sydd ag alergeddau i gnau ond sydd hefyd yn eu helpu, wrth iddynt dyfu i fyny, i gymryd cyfrifoldeb am ba fwydydd y gallant eu bwyta ac i fod yn ymwybodol o ble y gallent fod mewn perygl. Nid ydym yn caniatáu cnau na chynnyrch cnau mewn bocsys cinio ysgol gan fod gennym blant a staff ag alergeddau difrifol i gnau sy'n peryglu bywyd.
Dros yr wythnos ddiwethaf, rydym wedi gweld plant yn dod â mwy o fyrbrydau sy’n cynnwys cnau i mewn. Gallai hyn achosi adwaith anaffylactig a golygu bod yn rhaid i ni gael plentyn neu aelod o staff i ysbyty i gael triniaeth ar ôl rhoi pigiad epipen ar y safle. Mae hwn yn alergedd sy'n bygwth bywyd.
Mae ein polisi di-gnau yn golygu na ddylid dod â’r eitemau canlynol i’r ysgol:
-Pecynnau o gnau
-Menyn cnau daear neu frechdanau Nutella
-Barrau ffrwythau a grawnfwydydd sy'n cynnwys cnau
-Barrau siocled neu losin sy'n cynnwys cnau
-Rholiau hadau sesame (mae rhai plant sydd ag alergedd i gnau hefyd yn cael adwaith difrifol i sesame)
-Cacennau wedi'u gwneud â chnau
-Unrhyw brydau cartref ar gyfer pecynnau bwyd sydd wedi'u gwneud o gnau
Rwy’n gofyn i chi helpu ni i gadw pawb yn ddiogel trwy wirio unrhyw fwyd sy'n dod i'r ysgol. Yn ddelfrydol, rydym yn annog darn o ffrwyth ffres fel byrbryd i’r plant.

Llangrannog
Dyma nodyn sydyn i atgoffa teuluoedd Blwyddyn 5 am Langrannog sef ein trip preswyl mis heddiw! 6ed-8fed o Hydref. Mae gan CivicaPay y swyddogaeth i chi dalu darnau bach i ffwrdd ar y tro. Os ydych yn cael trafferth talu am resymau technegol neu resymau eraill, cysylltwch â Mrs Redwood neu fi ac fe wnawn ein gorau i helpu.

UNICEF and Our School Charter
We are a UNICEF Rights Respecting School and we are delighted to have been awarded the Bronze Award last year. But, we won’t stop there! Our ambition as a school is to achieve the highest level of the award. Why? Simply because our children deserve the best care, learning and support that we have to offer. We want to be a school that have fully embedded the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Last year, we really began to gather momentum - and so, on this year’s school development plan it is one of the headline features.
What is a Rights Respecting School?
A UNICEF Rights Respecting School is a community where children’s rights are heard, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Children and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.
Being a Rights Respecting School is not just about what children do but also importantly, what adults do. In a Rights Respecting School, children’s rights are promoted and realised and adults and children work towards this together.
The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of school’s planning, policies, practices and ethos.
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) - What is it?
It is a list of children’s rights that all children and young people, everywhere in the world, have, no matter who they are, where they live or what they believe in. It has been adopted by many countries into law - but not all.
The UNCRC has 54 articles, 42 rights are for children and young people up to 18 years of age. The others are all about how governments and adults should work together to make sure children and young people can access their rights.
Children’s rights are all the things that children and young people need to make sure that they are safe, have the things they need to survive and develop, and have a say in decisions that affect their lives.

Our School Charter
At the end of last year, in preparation for the new school year, our whole school, lead by School Council, worked together to create a Whole School Charter. This will help us to further embed our school values of being kind, being a family, being fired-up and being ambitious. This is our simple joint agreement about our expectations of how every member of our school community must be rights respecting.
We held a competition last year looking for designs to display this in every class. The School Council decided to amalgamate a few designs together and so today we launched our assembly.
EVERYONE
After School Clubs
Thank you to everyone who signed up for after school clubs. As you know from Tuesday’s bulletin, some of these clubs are run by the school and some are run by the Urdd. For school based clubs, the sign up has now closed and letters are being issued today. If your child misplaces the letter, don’t panic! The office can help you out on Monday!
We are hoping that there will be two more clubs running this term too - Lego Club run by Menter Iaith and Games with Torfaen Play. I will be in contact about these clubs when the organisations have finalised their plans.
YEAR 6
Goodnight, Mister Tom
We had a great evening last night at the Blackwood Little Theatre watching ‘Goodnight, Mister Tom’! It was acted superbly with the main characters acting so authentically and meaningfully. I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed re-engaging with this story again. When I was a class teacher, this was one of my favourite books to teach. The children really did enjoy themselves and this will provide a great inspiration for their work over the coming weeks. There are just some stories that each generation should encounter and, so, it was fantastic that our children got to experience the epic tale and many of them for the first time. (They are shattered today after their late night!)
Don’t forget that Year 4 and 5 are going on Saturday afternoon!
YEARS 2-6
The Fire Service
We have been really lucky this week to have the Fire Service in to lead some sessions with the children about fire safety. Then, the children got to go out to see the fire engine and shoot water! They were extremely excited!
EVERYONE
Nut Free School
We at Ysgol Panteg aim to be a Nut-Free school. The school aims to protect children who have allergies to nuts yet also help them, as they grow up, to take responsibility as to what foods they can eat and to be aware of where they may be put at risk. We do not allow nuts or nut products in school lunch boxes since we have children and staff with severe, life-threatening allergies to nuts.
Over the last week, we’ve seen children bringing in more snacks that contain nuts. This could cause an anaphylactic reaction and mean that we have to get a child or staff member to a hospital to be treated after administering an epipen injection on site. This is a life-threatening allergy.
Our nut-free policy means that the following items should not be brought into school:
-Packs of nuts
-Peanut butter or Nutella sandwiches
-Fruit and cereal bars that contain nuts
-Chocolate bars or sweets that contain nuts
-Sesame seed rolls (some children allergic to nuts also have a severe reaction to sesame)
-Cakes made with nuts
-Any home cooked meals for packed lunches that are made from nuts
My plea is please help us to keep everyone safe by checking any food brought in to school. Ideally, we encourage a piece of fresh fruit as the children’s snack.
YEAR 5
Llangrannog
This is just a quick reminder for Year 5 families about Llangrannog which is our residential trip taking place one month today! 6th-8th of October. CivicaPay has the function for you to pay little chunks off at a time. If you are having trouble paying for technical or other reasons, please just get in contact with Mrs Redwood or myself and we will do our best to help.
