Annwyl Deuluoedd,
BLWYDDYN 1, 2, 3, 4 A 6
Eisteddfod Pontypool
Heddiw bu Blwyddyn 1 a 2 yn mynychu Eisteddfod Cyngor Cymunedol Pont-y-pŵl. Rydw i mor falch ohonyn nhw i gyd am gymryd rhan ac am ymuno mor dda. Mae rhoi’r profiadau hyn yn ôl i blant, megis perfformio a chefnogi eraill wrth iddynt berfformio, yn bleser i ni nawr nad ydym bellach dan gyfyngiadau a osodwyd arnom gan y pandemig diweddar.
Yfory, bydd ein Blynyddoedd 3, 4 a 6 yn mynychu’r Eisteddfod yng Nghanolfan Hamdden Pont-y-pŵl i berfformio a chefnogi perfformwyr eraill. Eto, mae gennym eich caniatâd ar gyfer teithiau lleol, felly cysylltwch â ni os nad ydych am i'ch plentyn fynychu'r daith hon.
Rwy’n ddiolchgar iawn i Mrs Redwood yn y swyddfa sydd wedi bod yn trefnu trafnidiaeth i sicrhau nad oes neb yn colli allan. Roedd hyn yn arbennig o anodd! Diolch hefyd i Gyngor Cymunedol Tref Pont-y-pŵl sydd wedi sybsideiddio rhywfaint o gost y bysiau fel nad oes yn rhaid i ni drosglwyddo’r gost hon i deuluoedd.
Mae cerddoriaeth a pherfformio yn bethau mor bwerus. Gwyddom ei fod yn magu hyder - nid yw rhai plant erioed wedi sefyll o flaen eraill i berfformio ac mae'n hyfryd eu gweld yn ymateb i'r her. Mae'n adeiladu ac yn cryfhau bondiau partneriaeth a chydweithio. Mae'n ymlacio ni ac yn lleihau pryder. Mae'n ein helpu i ddeall ein hemosiynau ac archwilio ein teimladau. Mae'n gwella ffocws a chanolbwyntio. Mae ymchwil hyd yn oed yn dweud wrthym ei fod yn ein helpu i ddysgu'r Gymraeg yn well!
BLWYDDYN 4, 5 A 6
Pedwarawd Chwyth
Heddiw, cawsom y fraint o gael pedwarawd pres a chwyth i mewn i’r ysgol er mwyn cynnal cyngerdd i’r plant. Fe wnaethon nhw fwynhau dysgu am yr offerynnau a sut maen nhw'n gweithio gyda'i gilydd i wneud cerddoriaeth.
BLWYDDYN 5
Diwrnod Blasu Gwynllyw
Dim ond nodyn i’ch atgoffa yw hwn, fel yn y bwletinau blaenorol, mai yfory yw diwrnod rhagflas Blwyddyn 5 yng Ngwynllyw. Gwahoddir pob plentyn i fynychu. Mae’r plant hynny sy’n derbyn prydau ysgol am ddim wedi archebu eu cinio i fynd gyda nhw o’n cegin. Bydd angen pecyn bwyd eu hunain ar eraill. Mae gennym eich caniatâd ar gyfer teithiau lleol, felly, gofynnwn i chi gysylltu â ni os nad ydych am i'ch plentyn fynychu'r diwrnod blasu hwn. Nid oes cost am gludiant ar gyfer y diwrnod hwn - rydym wedi talu'r gost. Mae Gwynllyw wedi gofyn heddiw i’r plant dod mewn cit ymarfer corff.
BLWYDDYN 1 I 6
Dysgu Cerdd
Eleni, byddwch yn ymwybodol ein bod wedi buddsoddi’n helaeth mewn profiadau cerddoriaeth i blant. Mae ein plant, o bob oed, yn cael gwersi canu a gwersi offerynnau cerdd yn eu dosbarthiadau a’u grwpiau. Mae’n wych gweld plant yn profi llawenydd cerddoriaeth yn ogystal â’r ddisgyblaeth a’r canolbwyntio sydd ei angen i chwarae offeryn yn dda. Dwi wrth fy modd yn gweld plant Blwyddyn 2 yn dysgu’r ffidil gyda Mrs Evans ac oedrannau eraill yn dysgu chwibanau ceiniog, ukuleles a glockenspiels gyda Mr Beecham.
Roeddem yn falch o groesawu Mr Simon Carey ddoe a ddaeth i wneud rhai arddangosiadau cerddorol gyda'r plant. Mae Mr Carey yn mynd i fod yn mynychu'r ysgol ar ddyddiau Mawrth ar ôl y Pasg er mwyn dysgu gwersi cerdd un-i-un am 30 munud. Mr Carey yn mynd i fod yn cynnig gitâr acwstig, clasurol a thrydanol. Bydd hefyd, yn y dyfodol agos, yn cynnig gwersi drymiau yn yr ysgol. Mae cost ychwanegol o £12.50 yr hanner awr, yn daladwy’n uniongyrchol. Cysylltwch â Mr Simon Carey i weld argaeledd ac i drefnu gwersi. simoncareymusic@gmail.com
Byddwch yn ymwybodol ein bod eisoes yn cynnig gwersi piano a ffidil un-i-un trwy ME Music. Mae gan Mrs Evans hefyd ychydig o le ar gyfer gwersi preifat ac rydym yn falch o allu hwyluso gofod iddi gynnal y gwersi hyn. Mae ganddi rai lleoedd cyfyngedig ar gyfer gwersi unigol y gallwch eu drefnu gwersi a thalu amdanynt yn uniongyrchol gyda hi. Os yw hyn yn rhywbeth y mae gennych ddiddordeb ynddo, cysylltwch â Mrs Evans ar 07884 063887 ac enquiries@learnviolin.co.uk am fwy o wybodaeth neu i archebu.

Therapi Lego
Rydym yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi bod rhai o’n tîm lles wedi trefnu i fynychu Hyfforddiant Therapi Lego. Credwn fod gan chwarae’r pŵer i helpu pob person ifanc i dyfu. Mae Therapi Lego yn ffordd fyd-enwog o helpu plant i siarad, cysylltu ag oedolyn a datblygu’n holistig. Yn anad dim, mae wedi'i seilio ar hwyl a rhywbeth y mae'r plant yn eu caru. Mae hyn er mwyn gwella ein darpariaeth lles o gefnogaeth i blant.
Oes gennych chi unrhyw Lego sbâr gartref y gallech chi ei roi i ni? Cysylltwch â Miss Sweet (lauren.sweet@ysgolpanteg.cymru) neu'r swyddfa (office.ysgolpanteg@torfaen.gov.uk). Diolch o flaen llaw!

Mewngofnodwch i CivicaPay i wneud y taliad hwnnw os nad ydych wedi gwneud hynny eisoes. Os ydych chi'n cael trafferth talu, boed hynny'n fater technegol neu'n rheswm arall, cysylltwch â ni heddiw.

Profedigaeth
Bydd llawer o'n rhieni a'n hathrawon wedi adnabod Mrs April Wiggins (Mrs. Griffiths-Ball gynt) oherwydd ei harweiniad o Ysgol Bryn Onnen ac Ysgol Gymraeg y Fenni am nifer o flynyddoedd. Ar ôl brwydr â chancr, cynhelir angladd April y dydd Sadwrn hwn. I lawer o’n rhieni, byddant yn ei chofio fel eu pennaeth yn Ysgol Bryn Onnen neu fel ‘athrawes fro’ cyn hynny pan aeth o gwmpas ysgolion yn dysgu Cymraeg. Roedd ganddi angerdd am yr iaith ac am blant - yr atgofion melys o hwyl a phlant yng nghanol popeth yw ei hetifeddiaeth. Ymddeolodd ychydig flynyddoedd yn ôl a hyd yn oed wedyn agorodd feithrinfa Iaith Gymraeg newydd yn Nhref Fynwy. Roedd hi'n rym wrth geisio agor ysgol Gymraeg newydd yn Nhref Fynwy - a bydd hyn yn cael ei agor ym mis Medi! I rai o'n hathrawon, hi oedd yr un a safodd wrth eu hchr yn dangos iddynt y ffordd ar ddechrau eu gyrfaoedd. I mi, roedd hi'n fentor a wnaeth fy annog i ymgymryd â rolau arwain yn yr ysgol ac yna i ymgymryd â fy rôl bresennol yma yn Panteg. Y cyfan y gallaf ei ddweud yw: etifeddiaeth fendigedig sydd ganddi a bydd y rhai ohonom a oedd yn ei hadnabod yn ei cholli'n fawr. Os oes gennych unrhyw atgofion am Mrs. Wiggins a hoffech chi anfon i mi, fe allaf basio rheini ymlaen at y teulu pan fo hi’n briodol.
YEAR 1, 2, 3, 4 AND 6
Eisteddfod Pontypool
Today, Years 1 and 2 attended the Pontypool Community Council Eisteddfod. I am so proud of them all for taking part and for joining in so well. Giving children these experiences, such as performing and supporting others whilst they perform, is a joy for us now that we are no longer under restrictions laid upon us by the recent pandemic.
Tomorrow, our Years 3, 4 and 6 will be attending the Pontypool Community Council Eisteddfod to perform and support other performers. Again, we have your permission for local trips, so please contact us if you do not want your child to attend this trip.
I am very grateful to Mrs Redwood in the office who has been sorting transport to ensure that no one misses out. This was particularly hard! Thank you also to Pontypool Town Council who have subsidised some of the cost of the buses so that we do not have to pass this cost on to families.
Music and performing are such powerful things. We know that it builds confidence - some children have never stood in front of others to perform and it is wonderful to see them rise to the challenge. It builds and strengthens bonds of partnership and working together. It relaxes and reduces anxiety. It helps us understand our emotions and explore our feelings. It enhances focus and concentration. Research even tells us that it helps us to learn the Welsh language even better.
YEAR 4, 5 AND 6
Wind Quartet
Today, we had the privilege of having a brass and wind quartet into school to hold a concert for the children. They really enjoyed learning about the instruments and how they work together to make music.
YEAR 5
Gwynllyw Taster Day
This is just a reminder, as per previous bulletins, that tomorrow is Year 5’s taster day for Gwynllyw. All children are invited to attend. Children will need a packed lunch for this event. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, then this will be provided by our kitchen. We have your permission for local trips, therefore, we ask you to contact us if you do not want your child to attend this taster day. There is no cost for transport for this day - we have covered the cost. Gwynllyw have sent an email today asking the children to come in sports kit.
YEAR 1 TO 6
Music Tuition
This year, you will be aware that we have invested heavily in music experiences for children. Our children, across all ages are having singing lessons and musical instrument lessons in their classes and groups. It is great to see children experiencing the joy of music as well as the discipline and concentration it takes to play an instrument well. I love seeing the Year 2 children as they are learning the violin with Mrs Evans and other ages learning penny whistles, ukuleles and glockenspiels with Mr Beecham.
We were pleased to welcome Mr Simon Carey yesterday who came do some musical demonstrations with the children. Mr Carey is going to be attending school on Tuesdays after Easter in order to teach 30 minute one-to-one music lessons. Mr Carey going to be offering acoustic, classical and electric guitar. He will also, in the near future, be offering drum lessons at school. There is an additional cost of £12.50 per half hour, payable direct. Please contact Mr Simon Carey to see availability and to book. simoncareymusic@gmail.com
You will be aware that we already offer one-to-one piano and violin lessons through ME Music. Mrs Evans also has some space for private lessons and we are please to be able to facilitate a space for her to run these lessons. She has some limited spaces for individual lessons that you can book and pay for directly with her. If this is something you are interested in, please contact Mrs Evans on 07884 063887 and enquiries@learnviolin.co.uk for more information or to book.

This is to enhance our wellbeing packages of support for children.

EVERYONE
Bereavement
Many of our parents and teachers will have known Mrs April Wiggins (formerly Mrs. Griffiths-Ball) because of her leadership of Ysgol Bryn Onnen and Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni for many years. After a battle with cancer, April’s funeral will be held this Saturday. For many of our parents, they will remember her as their headteacher at Ysgol Bryn Onnen or as an ‘athrawes fro’ before that when she went around schools teaching Welsh. She had a passion for the language and for children – the fond memories of fun and children at the centre of everything is her legacy. She retired a few years ago and even then opened up a new Welsh language nursery in the town of Monmouth. She was a driving force in trying to open a new Welsh school in the town of Monmouth – which will open this September! For some of our teachers, she was the one who stood beside them showing them the way at the start of their careers. For me, she was a mentor who encouraged me to take on leadership roles within school and then to take on my current role here at Panteg. All I can say is: what a wonderful legacy and those of us who knew her will miss her terribly. If you have any memories of Mrs. Wiggins and would like to send them to me, I can pass those on to the family when appropriate.
