Ein Themâu Newydd
Nawr ein bod ni wedi dechrau tymor newydd, mae'r plant yn dechrau ar eu themâu newydd. Mae llawer o bethau cyffrous i'w gwneud a dysgu!
Thema Cam Cynnydd 3 yw ‘Cnawd, Gwaed ac Esgyrn’. Yn ystod y tymor, bydd Blynyddoedd 4, 5 a 6 yn dysgu am sut mae’r galon yn gweithio, bywydau gwyddonwyr enwog, effeithiau ysmygu ar y corff, dewisiadau bwyd iach, maetholion mewn bwyd, bacteria, rygbi, pêl fas, photoshop a'i beryglon, salsa, codio Fitbit eu hunain. Dim ond i enwi ychydig o bethau! Bydd y plant hefyd yn darllen ‘Wonder’ gan R.J. Palacio - gallaf yn bersonol argymell y llyfr hwn, mae’n lyfr ar gyfer pob oedran.
Thema Cam Cynnydd 2 yw ‘Tu ôl i’r Drws’. Dros y tymor, bydd Blynyddoedd 1, 2 a 3 yn dysgu am lawer o bethau gwahanol a phob pythefnos bydd rhywbeth gwahanol tu ôl i’r drws! Amseroedd cyffrous! Mae’n anodd peidio â rhoi ormod o wybodaeth a distrywio’r syrpreis bob pythefnos! Byddant yn edrych ar lefydd enwog, siocled, stori’r Pasg, aros yn ddiogel ar-lein, dawnsio creadigol, gemau gwaith tîm, tennis, trydan, codio, celf Jeremy Thomas a Monsters’ Inc. Dim ond i enwi ychydig o bethau!

Dros yr hanner tymor, bydd y Meithrin a Derbyn yn dysgu am y gwahanol fathau o ddeinosoriaid, gwneud wyau deinosor, ein hardal leol, lleoedd pwysig iddynt, o ble mae bwyd yn dod, iechyd a bwydydd afiach, siapiau 2D, casglu data syml, chwarae yn y theatr bypedau i ailadrodd straeon. Diolch i bawb a ymunodd â'r clybiau trwy arwyddo i fyny. Mae slipiau wedi dod allan heddiw i gadarnhau llefydd. Mae ein clybiau ysgol yn dechrau wythnos nesaf. Mae clybiau eraill sy'n cael eu rhedeg gan asiantaethau allanol yn cychwyn yr wythnos wedyn - felly mae amser o hyd i gofrestru. Dyma'r manylion ar gyfer clybiau sy'n cael eu rhedeg yn allanol.

Ffilmio'r BBC
Roedd dydd Mercher yn ddiwrnod cyffrous - nid yn unig oherwydd bod y plant yn ôl yn yr ysgol ond hefyd roedd gennym ni'r BBC yn ffilmio yn barod ar gyfer Newyddion BBC Cymru, S4C, BBC Radio Wales a BBC Radio Cymru! Rydym yn gobeithio y bydd y segment yn cael ei redeg nos Fawrth nesaf. Daeth y BBC i siarad am bwysigrwydd y Gymraeg ac am agor uned drochi newydd i blant sy’n dymuno symud o leoliadau cyfrwng Saesneg i leoliadau cyfrwng Cymraeg. Buont yn ffilmio yn ein Dosbarthiadau Derbyn, ein dosbarth Blwyddyn 2 a Blwyddyn 6 yn ogystal ag yn ein stryd fewnol.

Carreg Lam
Rydym yn recriwtio! Mae Carreg Lam yn chwilio am gynorthwyydd addysgu o safon uchel! Bydd canolfan darpariaeth trochi newydd Torfaen yn helpu dysgwyr sy’n dechrau addysg cyfrwng Cymraeg yn hwyr (ar ôl saith oed fel arfer) a disgyblion nad oedd y Gymraeg efallai’n rhan o’u trefn dyddiol, i fedru ar y sgiliau a’r hyder sydd eu hangen i barhau eu dysgu trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg. Yn gyffredinol, bydd plant yn ymuno â’r uned am gyfnod dysgu dwys cyn mynd trwy gyfnod o integreiddio trawsnewidiol i leoliad prif ffrwd cyfrwng Cymraeg.

Diwrnod Sbardun
Heddiw mae ein dosbarthiadau Cam Cynnydd 2 wedi bod yn gweithio'n galed iawn mewn ffordd wahanol! Diolch i’r athrawon a’r cynorthwywyr a weithiodd i sefydlu’r hyn rydym yn ei alw’n ddiwrnod sbardun er mwyn ysbrydoli’r plant gyda’u thema nesaf. Mae gan y thema ‘Tu ôl i’r Drws’ gymaint o bosibiliadau diddiwedd! Ym mhob dosbarth mae gennym ni ddrws cardfwrdd - a'r wythnos hon tu ôl i'r drws roedd siocled! Felly, bydd dysg y plant am y pythefnos nesaf am siocled! Roedd rhai ohonyn nhw’n llyfu eu gwefusau hyd yn oed yn clywed am rai o’r gweithgareddau cyffrous sydd ar y gweill.

Staffio
Rwy’n falch iawn o gyhoeddi bod gennym ddau athro newydd sydd wedi dechrau gyda ni ers y Nadolig er mwyn gweithio ar ymyrraeth. Yn Ysgol Panteg, rydym am roi’r dechrau gorau i bob plentyn. Felly, mae’r ysgol a’r llywodraethwyr wedi gwneud buddsoddiad sylweddol er mwyn cefnogi plant mewn grwpiau bach ar draws y flwyddyn academaidd hon. Rydym yn gweld hyn fel cymorth i unigolion sydd ei angen ar ôl Covid, her ychwanegol i ddisgyblion a allai fod yn tangyflawni a chefnogaeth i’n dysgwyr mwy galluog.
Y tymor diwethaf, Miss Heini Jones a Miss Olivia Carroll a gyflawnodd y rolau hyn. Mae Miss Jones bellach wedi symud i weithio ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru ac mae Miss Carroll bellach wedi ymgymryd â’i rôl yn llawn amser yn nosbarth Cwm Lleucu ar gyfer cyfnod mamolaeth Mrs Morgan. Felly, rydym mor falch o gyhoeddi bod Miss Jennifer Radcliffe wedi dechrau gweithio gyda ni i gwblhau gwaith ymyrraeth gyda’r Derbyn i Flwyddyn 2. Ac, mae Mr. Robert Vaughan wedi dechrau gweithio gyda ni i gwblhau gwaith ymyrraeth gyda Blynyddoedd 3 i 6. Croeso mawr i Teulu Panteg!

Cyfarfodydd Cynnydd a Lles Disgyblion - Rhybudd Ymlaen Llaw
Dim ond neges gyflym yw hon i roi gwybod ichi y byddwn yn cynnal ‘cyfarfodydd cynnydd a lles disgyblion’ gyda theuluoedd ddydd Llun 6ed o Chwefror i ddydd Mercher 8fed o Chwefror. Bydd mwy o fanylion yn cael eu rhyddhau yn agosach at yr amser. Mae'r rhain yn gyfarfodydd hynod bwysig i staff a theuluoedd - felly gwnewch bob ymdrech i fod yn bresennol. Byddwn yn dal y rhain mewn person, trwy alwad fideo a dros y ffôn - beth bynnag sy'n gweithio i chi. Byddwn hefyd yn cychwyn llyfrau'r plant i deuluoedd eu gweld cyn y cyfarfod. (Yn amlwg, ni fydd clybiau ysgol yr wythnos yma – ond fydd clybiau sydd wedi rhedeg gan asianteithau allanol dal yn rhedeg).

Our New Themes
Now that we are in a new term, the children are starting their new themes. There are lots of exciting things to do and learn!
Progress Step 3’s theme is ‘Flesh, Blood and Bones’. Over the course of the term, Years 4, 5 and 6 will be learning about how the heart works, the lives of famous scientists, the effects of smoking on the body, healthy food choices, nutrients in food, bacteria, rugby, baseball, photoshop and it’s dangers, salsa, making their own coded Fitbit. Just to name a few things! The children will also be reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio - I can personally recommend this book, it is a must read for all ages.
Progress Step 2’s theme is ‘Behind the Door’. Over the course of the term, Years 1, 2 and 3 will be learning about lots of things and each fortnight something different will be behind the door! Exciting times! It’s hard not to give the game away for each fortnight’s surprise! They will be looking at famous places, chocolate, the Easter story, staying safe online, creative dance, team work games, tennis, electricity, coding, the art of Jeremy Thomas and Monsters’ Inc. Just to name a few things!
Progress Step 1’s theme for this half term is ‘10 Mischievous Dinosaurs’. Over the course of the half term, the Nursery and Reception will be learning about the different types of dinosaurs, making dinosaur eggs, our local area, important places to them, where does food come from, health and unhealthy foods, 2D shapes, collecting simple data, playing in the puppet theatre to retell stories. Just to name a few things!

School Clubs
Thank you to everyone who signed up to clubs. Our school clubs start next week. Slips have come out today to confirm children’s spaces at the clubs. Other clubs run by external agencies start the week after - so there is still time to sign up. Here are the details for externally run clubs.

BBC Filming
Wednesday was an exciting day - not only because the children were back in school but we also had the BBC filming ready for BBC Wales News, S4C, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru! We’re hoping that the segment will be run next Tuesday evening. The BBC came to speak about the importance of the Welsh language and about us opening up a new immersion unit for children who wish to move from English medium settings to Welsh medium settings. They filmed in our Reception Classes, our Year 2 class and Year 6 as well as in our internal street.

Carreg Lam
We are ecruiting! Carreg Lam is looking for a high quality teaching assistant! Torfaen’s new late immersion provision centre will help learners entering Welsh-medium education at a later stage (typically after the age of seven) and pupils for whom Welsh may not have been part of their daily routine, to gain the skills and confidence needed to continue their learning through Welsh. Children will generally join the unit for an intense learning period before then undergoing a period of transitioned integration into a Welsh-language main stream setting.

YEARS 1, 2 & 3
Spark Day
Today our Progress Step 2 classes have been working really hard in a different way! Thank you to the teachers and assistants who worked to set up what we call our spark day in order to inspire the children with their next theme. The theme ‘Behind the Door’ has so many endless possibilities! In each class we have a model door - and this week behind the door was chocolate! So the children’s learning for the next fortnight will be about chocolate! Some of them were licking their lips even hearing about some of the exciting activities that are planned.

Staffing
I am very pleased to announce that we have two new teachers who have started with us since Christmas in order to work on intervention. At Ysgol Panteg, we want to give the best start to every child. Therefore, the school and governors have made significant investment in order to support children in small group settings across this academic year. We see this as support for individuals who need it post-Covid, an extra challenge for pupils who might be underachieving and support for our more able learners.
Last term, these roles were carried out by Miss Heini Jones and Miss Olivia Carroll. Miss Jones has now moved to work at the University of South Wales and Miss Carroll has now taken up her role full time in our Cwm Lleucu class covering Mrs Morgan’s maternity. Therefore, we are so pleased to announce that Miss Jennifer Radcliffe has begun working with us completing intervention work with Reception to Year 2. And, Mr. Robert Vaughan has started working with us completing intervention work with Years 3 to 6. Croeso mawr to Teulu Panteg!

Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings – Advance Warning
This is just a quick message to let you know that we will be holding ‘Pupil Progress and Wellbeing Meetings’ with families on Monday 6th of February to Wednesday 8th of February. More details will be released closer to the time. These are incredibly important meetings for staff and families – so please make every effort to attend. We will be holding these in person, via video call and via telephone – whatever works for you. We will also be setting out the children’s books for families to see before the meeting. (Obviously, there will be no school clubs this week - but clubs run by external agencies will still run).
