Pwysigrwydd Darllen: Y Nadolig a Thu Hwnt

Mae darllen yn arf mor bwerus. Mae miliynau ar filiynau o lyfrau allan yna i ddewis ohonynt! Dros y Nadolig hwn, rwy’n eich annog i wneud ychydig o amser i ddarllen gyda’ch plentyn a ffurfio patrwm o siarad am yr hyn y mae wedi’i ddarllen.

Gall gwyliau’r Nadolig fod yn amser rhyfedd iawn i blant: mae eu harferion dydd normal yn mynd allan y ffenest, maen nhw’n bwyta llawer mwy o siwgr nag arfer, maen nhw’n gweld llawer o wahanol bobl, mae ganddyn nhw gyffro Dydd Nadolig ei hun ac mae amser sgrin yn tueddu i fynd trwy'r to. Nid yw'r un o'r pethau hyn yn ddrwg ac maent i gyd yn ychwanegu at y cyffro ond gallant fod yn flinedig iawn ac gallent ddadreoleiddio. I ni fel oedolion, hyd yn oed, rydym yn mynd i mewn i'r rhyw amser limbo lle nad oes gennym unrhyw syniad o ddiwrnod yr wythnos!

Does bron dim mor bwerus â darllen yn rheolaidd gyda phlentyn neu iddo/i. Mae ganddo fanteision rhyfeddol i blant: cysur a sicrwydd, hyder a diogelwch, ymlacio, hapusrwydd a hwyl. Mae rhoi amser a sylw llawn i blentyn wrth ddarllen gyda nhw yn dweud wrtho/i ei fod yn bwysig. Mae'n adeiladu hunan-barch, geirfa, yn bwydo dychymyg a hyd yn oed yn gwella eu patrymau cysgu.

Yn Ysgol Panteg, rydym yn darparu mynediad llawn i deuluoedd at ein casgliad llyfrau Cymraeg ar-lein. Yn enwedig ar gyfer plant iau, byddwch yn cael eich arwain gan athro dosbarth eich plentyn. Mae ein hysgol yn defnyddio ‘Tric a Chlic’ i ddysgu ffoneg Gymraeg (o’r Meithrin a’r Derbyn) a ‘Read Write Inc.’ i ddysgu ffoneg Saesneg (o Flwyddyn 3 ymlaen). Mae llyfrau ‘Tric a Chlic’ i gyd ar gael ar eu gwefan (https://tricachlic.cymru/cy/uab). Rydym hefyd yn defnyddio fersiwn Gymraeg o’r ‘Oxford Reading Tree’ rydym wedi ei steilio fel ‘Ninja Darllen’ ac mae’r holl lyfrau i’w cael ar wefan ein hysgol (https://bit.ly/darllenpanteg). Os oes gennych unrhyw amheuaeth ynghylch ble i ddechrau neu os oes gennych gwestiwn, cysylltwch ag athro eich plentyn am help!

Yn ogystal, mae gan wefan ein hysgol dudalen sy’n cynnwys awgrymiadau defnyddiol ar gyfer darllen gyda’ch plentyn:

Mae Llyfrgelloedd Torfaen hefyd yn wych am rannu cronfeydd enfawr o adnoddau darllen. Mae ganddyn nhw lyfrau printiedig y gallwch chi fynd i'w dewis - yn union fel y mae llyfrgelloedd wedi'i wneud ers canrifoedd. Ond, mae Llyfrgelloedd Torfaen yn cynnig e-lyfrau, e-lyfrau llafar (audiobooks) ac e-gylchgronau i’w lawrlwytho AM DDIM i’ch llechen, ffôn clyfar, gliniadur neu bwrdd gwaith. Mae'r adnoddau hyn yn gweithio yn union fel benthyciadau llyfrgell arferol ond yn dychwelyd eu hunain yn awtomatig felly nid oes unrhyw daliadau hwyr. Y cyfan sydd ei angen arnoch yw cerdyn llyfrgell dilys a'r ap cywir ar gyfer eich dyfais. Mae gwasanaeth e-lyfrau ac e-lyfrau llafar BorrowBox yn darparu ystod eang o deitlau Cymraeg a Saesneg, ffuglen a ffeithiol a llyfrau i oedolion a phlant. Gallwch lawrlwytho hyd at 10 e-lyfr a 10 e-lyfr llafar ar unrhyw adeg am gyfnod benthyca o 21 diwrnod.

MEITHRIN A DERBYN

Cyngerdd Nadolig Cam Cynnydd 1

Roedd hi mor wych ddoe i gael ein cyngherddau Nadolig Meithrin a Derbyn. I’r rhan fwyaf o’n teuluoedd, dyma’r tro cyntaf i’w plentyn berfformio. Gwnaethant mor dda yn dysgu'r caneuon i gyd, yn dysgu eu geiriau ac yn dysgu beth ddigwyddodd pryd! Roedden ni mor falch ohonyn nhw i gyd - a dwi'n gwybod eich bod chi hefyd!

Fel gyda chamau cynnydd eraill, byddwn yn mynd trwy'r lluniau swyddogol yr wythnos hon ac yn rhannu dolen i chi eu llwytho i lawr yr wythnos nesaf. Diolch am eich amynedd gyda hyn.

Importance of Reading: Festive Season and Beyond

Reading is such a powerful tool. There a millions upon millions of books out there to choose from! Over this Christmastime, I urge you to make some time to read with your child and form a pattern about talking about what they’ve read.

The Christmas holidays can be a really odd time for children: their normal day routines go out the window, they eat far more sugar than normal, they see lots of different people, they have the excitement of Christmas Day itself and screen-time tends to go through the roof. None of these things are bad and they all add to the excitement but they can be really exhausting and dysregulating. For us as adults, even we go into that limbo stage where we have no idea of the day of the week!

There can be few things as powerful as regularly reading with or to a child. It has astonishing benefits for children: comfort and reassurance, confidence and security, relaxation, happiness and fun. Giving a child time and full attention when reading with them tells them they matter. It builds self-esteem, vocabulary, feeds imagination and even improves their sleeping patterns.

At Ysgol Panteg, we provide families full access to our Welsh book collection online. Especially for younger children, be guided by your child’s class teacher. Our school uses ‘Tric a Chlic’ to teach Welsh phonics (from Nursery and Reception) and ‘Read Write Inc.’ to teach English phonics (from Year 3 onwards). ’Tric a Chlic’ books are all available on the their website (https://tricachlic.cymru/en/uab). We also use a Welsh version of the ‘Oxford Reading Tree’ that we have stylized as ‘Ninja Darllen’ (Reading Ninjas) and all of the books can be found on our school website (https://bit.ly/darllenpanteg). If you are in any doubt about where to start or have a question, contact your child’s teacher for some help!

In addition, our school website has a page with helpful hints and tips about reading with your child:

Torfaen Libraries are also brilliant for sharing huge banks of reading resources. They have printed books which you can go and choose - just as libraries have done for centuries. But, Torfaen Libraries offer e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazines to download FREE to your tablet, smartphone, laptop or desktop. These resources work just like normal library loans but return themselves automatically so there are no overdue charges. All you need is a valid library card and the right app for your device. The BorrowBox e-book and e-audio book service provides a wide range of English and Welsh titles, fiction and non-fiction and books for both adults and children. You can download up to 10 e-books and 10 e-audio books at any time for a 21 day loan period.

Progress Step 1 Christmas Concert

It was so great yesterday to have our Nursery and Reception Christmas concerts. For most of our families, this was the first time their child had performed. They did so well learning all the songs, learning their words and learning what happened when! We were so proud of them all - and I know you were too!

As with other progress steps, we will be going through the official photographs this week and will share a link for you to download them next week. Thank you for your patience with this.
