Annwyl Deuluoedd,

Hawliau Plant UNICEF
Rydym yn agosau at ddiwedd ein ffocws ar Hawliau Plant. Dim ond dau arall sydd gennym i'w harchwilio: un yr wythnos hon ac un yr wythnos nesaf.
Heddiw, hoffwn rannu gyda chi un o’r hawliau sydd ar waith i sicrhau bod pawb yn cael yr un cyfleoedd a chefnogaeth deg.
Mae gan bob plentyn yr hawl i’r dechrau gorau posibl mewn bywyd a thrwy gydol eu plentyndod. Mae gan blant ag anableddau yr un hawliau ag unrhyw blant eraill. Fodd bynnag, fel yr amlinellir yn Erthygl 23 mae plant ag anableddau yn wynebu llu o rwystrau i wireddu’r hawliau hyn a’n gwaith ni yw sicrhau eu bod yn gallu byw bywyd i’r eithaf.
Gall anableddau fod yn gorfforol, gellir eu gweld - ond gallant hefyd fod yn anweledig a gallant hefyd fod yn niwroddatblygiadol. Mae bron i 240 miliwn o blant yn byw ag anableddau ledled y byd - 1 o bob 10 o'r holl blant.
Yn Ysgol Panteg, rydym yn cytuno’n llwyr â’r genhadaeth sy’n dweud y dylai plant ag anableddau allu byw bywyd i’r eithaf. Ond, beth mae hyn yn ei olygu mewn gwirionedd?
Mae'n golygu bod angen ymgynghori â phlant ag anableddau ynghylch eu barn. Mae'n golygu ein bod yn sicrhau bod pob gweithgaredd yn caniatáu mynediad a chyfranogiad i bob plentyn. Rydym yn mynd i'r afael â gwahaniaethu annheg ac allgáu unigolion os a phan fydd yn codi. Rydym yn newid agweddau negyddol ac yn herio’r stigma tuag at blant ag anableddau tra’n grymuso pobl ag anableddau i fynnu ac arfer eu hawliau, a’u cynnwys mewn penderfyniadau sy’n effeithio ar eu bywyd.
Beth yw ein hathroniaeth ar gyfer gwneud hyn yn iawn i blant? Wel, gellir ei esbonio mewn un gair: ecwiti.
Mae cydraddoldeb yn golygu bod pob unigolyn neu grŵp o bobl yn cael yr un adnoddau neu gyfleoedd. Mae hyn yn golygu y byddem yn darparu popeth yr un fath i'n plant ag anableddau ag yr ydym yn ei wneud i blant eraill. Ond, nid yw hyn yn ddefnyddiol iawn. Mae ecwiti yn cydnabod bod gan bob person amgylchiadau gwahanol ac yn dyrannu'r union adnoddau a chyfleoedd sydd eu hangen i gyrraedd canlyniad cyfartal. Mae hyn yn golygu ein bod yn darparu'r hyn sydd ei angen ar bob plentyn ar gyfer llwyddiant mewn bywyd a fydd yn wahanol i wahanol blant. Rwyf wrth fy modd â'r cartŵn hwn sy'n helpu i esbonio ecwiti a chydraddoldeb: mae yna gêm pêl droed ac mae tri pherson eisiau gweld y gêm. Ond, mae ffens yn y ffordd! Yn y ddelwedd gyntaf, mae pawb yn cael yr adnoddau cyfartal ond mae rhai dal methu gweld! Yn yr ail ddelwedd, mae'r bobl yn cael yr hyn sydd ei angen arnynt i allu gweld y gêm - ac mae hyn yn golygu bod pobl yn cael cefnogaeth wahanol yn ôl eu hangen.

UNICEF Children’s Rights
We are drawing to the end of our focus on Children’s Rights. We’ve got just two more to explore: one this week and one next week.
Today, I’d like to share with you one of the rights that is put in place to ensure that everyone gets the same chances and equitable support.
All children have the right to the best possible start in life and throughout their childhood. Children with disabilities, being first and foremost children, have the same rights as any other children. However, as outlined in Article 23 children with disabilities face multiple obstacles to realising these rights and it is our job to ensure that they are able to live life to the full.
Disabilities can be physical, they can be seen - but they can also be unseen and they can also be neuro-developmental. There are nearly 240 million children living with disabilities worldwide – 1 in 10 of all children.
At Ysgol Panteg, we sign up whole-heartedly to the mission that says that children with disabilities should be able to life life to the full. But, what does this mean in reality?
It means that children with disabilities need to be consulted on their views. It means that we ensure that all activities allow all children access and participation. We tackle discrimination and exclusion if and when it arises. We change negative attitudes and challenge the stigma towards children with disabilities while empowering persons with disabilities to demand and exercise their rights, and including them in decisions that affect their life.
What is our philosophy for getting this right for children? Well, it can be explained in one word: equity.
Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities. This means we would provide our children with disabilities everything the same as we do for other children. But, this is not very helpful. Equity recognises that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. This means we provide what every child needs for success in life and that will be different for different children. I love this cartoon which helps to explain equity and equality: it’s a baseball game and three people want to see the game. But, there is a fence in the way! In the first image, everyone is given the equal resources but some still can’t see! In the second image, the people are given what they need to be able to see the game - and this means that people get different support according to their need.
