Diwrnod mewn Angen Plant y BBC
Diolch yn fawr i'n harweinwyr lles sydd wedi trefnu gweithgareddau heddiw. Roedd lluniau o Pudsey wedi'u cuddio ym mhobman! Roedd llawer o ddotiau wedi gwisgo ar gyfer ein diwrnod sbot-tacwlaidd! Rydyn ni wedi cael amser stori mewn rhai dosbarthiadau, helfa drysor Pudsey mewn dosbarthiadau eraill a gweithgareddau torri cod dim ond i grybwyll ychydig o bethau! Heddiw, gwnaethom godi £226.52 tuag at blant sydd angen cefnogaeth.

Wythnos Gwrth-Fwlio
Rydyn ni wedi bod yn siarad llawer am garedigrwydd a bwlio fel y gwyddoch yr wythnos hon. Rydyn ni wedi cymryd pwnc bob dydd. Heddiw, fe ddaethon ni â'n hwythnos gwrth-fwlio i ben gyda'n gwasanaeth llawn yn edrych dros pynciau ein hwythnos. Fe diffinnir bwlio fel arfer fel ymddygiad dro ar ôl tro y bwriedir iddo brifo rhywun naill ai'n emosiynol neu'n gorfforol, ac yn aml mae'n cael ei anelu at rai pobl oherwydd eu hil, crefydd, rhyw neu gyfeiriadedd rhywiol neu unrhyw agwedd arall fel ymddangosiad neu anabledd. Mae plant yn cael anghytundebau, camddealltwriaethau ac mae pethau'n digwydd lle maen nhw'n cwympo allan - mae hyn yn rhan o dyfu i fyny. Bwlio yw lle mae'n troi i fwy na hyn ac yn cael ei ailadrodd dros gyfnod o amser. Yn Ysgol Panteg, mae gennym ni ‘zero tolerance’ am fwlio. Gall bwlio fod ar sawl ffurf gan gynnwys:
-brifo ffisegol
-bwlio cymdeithasol
-ymddygiad bygythiol
-galw enwau
-seibrfwlio
Y peth pwysicaf, rydyn ni'n pwysleisio yw bod angen i blant ddweud wrth oedolyn maent yn ymddiried ynddyn nhw cyn gynted â phosib. Gall hwn fod yn oruchwyliwr ganol dydd, athro neu athrawes, cynorthwyydd addysgu neu chi fel rhieni. Mae sefyllfaoedd llai yn llawer haws delio â nhw na phan fyddant yn fach cyn iddynt esgeleiddio.
Wrth i blant dyfu a datblygu, rydym am eu hamddiffyn yn ogystal â'u helpu i ddelio â sefyllfaoedd yn hyderus. Felly, mae rhan o'r wythnos hon wedi ymwneud â helpu ein plant i adeiladu gwydnwch a hyder yw un o'r anrhegion pwysicaf y gallwn eu rhoi iddynt. Mae hyn yn beth parhaus. Rydyn ni i gyd yn deall sut y gall bywyd ddod â sawl her i chi drwyddi draw a pha mor bwysig yw hi ar sut rydyn ni'n rheoli hyn. Mae gwydnwch yn gallu rheoli straen, heriau, trawma neu adfyd a ddaw yn sgil bywyd yn ôl ohono. Pan fydd plant a phobl ifanc yn wydn, maen nhw'n mynd i fod yn fwy hyderus, chwilfrydig ac addasadwy i'r byd o'u cwmpas.
PAWB
Nadolig a Chostau Byw
Rydyn ni'n gwybod nad yw'r Nadolig hwn yn teimlo mor bell â hynny a bod costau argyfwng byw yn dechrau effeithio llawer o'n teuluoedd. Yn Ysgol Panteg, rydyn ni am i bob plentyn gael amser arbennig adeg y Nadolig. Mae'r Nadolig i blant yn amser mor hudolus - ac, mae gwylio plant adeg y Nadolig yr un mor hudolus i ni ag oedolion.
Fel y gwnaethom y llynedd, rydym am sicrhau bod pob plentyn yn cael anrhegion. Oherwydd cefnogaeth garedig pobl leol, y cyngor cymunedol a chysylltiadau anhysbys, rydym mewn sefyllfa i helpu teuluoedd sy'n cael trafferth ar yr adeg hon gyda chostau byw. Mae gennym lawer o deganau ac anrhegion i blant oed 3 i bobl ifanc yn eu harddegau.
1) Pe byddech chi'n elwa o unrhyw un o'r anrhegion hyn, yna gallwch chi gysylltu â mi neu Mrs Tudball yn gyfrinachol ac yn uniongyrchol ar matthew.dicken@torfaen.gov.uk neu melanie.tudball@torfaen.gov.uk. Yna, gallwn siarad â chi a threfnu amser priodol i chi ddod i ddewis o'n stoc. Efallai y gallwch chi fforddio anrhegion i'ch plentyn, ond ar draul rhywbeth arall - felly gadewch inni helpu.
2) Os ydych chi mewn sefyllfa i allu rhoi i gefnogi teulu arall ac eisiau gwneud hynny, byddem yn ddiolchgar. Ar hyn o bryd, mae gennym lawer ar gyfer plant iau ond byddem yn ddiolchgar o anrhegion sy'n addas ar gyfer bechgyn a merched hŷn, mwy aeddfed. Fel rheol, dim ond anrhegion newydd sbon a heb eu lapio yr ydym yn ei dosbarthu.
BLWYDDYN 3
Ymwybyddiaeth Ofalgar a Chefnogaeth Lles
Mae 'PAWS B' yn gwricwlwm ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar blaenllaw i blant 7 -11 oed mewn ysgolion ac fe'i datblygwyd i ddechrau mewn cydweithrediad ag athrawon ysgolion cynradd profiadol yn Ysgol Pen Y Bryn, uwch athrawon ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar ac ymchwilwyr yn y Ganolfan Ymchwil Ymwybyddiaeth Ofalgar ac Ymarfer ym Mhrifysgol Bangor.
Mae ein plant Blwyddyn 3 wedi cael dwy wers gyda Mrs Elizabeth Williams (arbenigwr yr ydym wedi'i gyflogi i ddod mewn cefnogaeth gyda chyflawni'r rhaglen gefnogol hon) hyd yn hyn. Bydd y rhaglen ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar yn rhedeg am y 12 wythnos nesaf gyda'r plant hyn. Ar ôl y Nadolig, rydym wedi trefnu bod ein Blwyddyn 6 yn profi cwrs ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar arbennig i gynorthwyo gyda phontio i uwchradd.
Felly, pam rydyn ni'n dysgu ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar PAWS B?
-Mae'n hyrwyddo lles, hunanymwybyddiaeth a hunanofal.
-Mae'n cynnig strategaethau ymdopi addasol i adeiladu gwytnwch a help pan fydd bywyd yn heriol.
-Mae'n annog plant i drin eu hunain ac eraill yn garedig a gyda pharch.
-Gall helpu i feithrin meddylfryd twf ac agwedd gadarnhaol at ddysgu.
-Mae'n estyn dysgu sgiliau meddwl a hyrwyddir yn y cwricwlwm cenedlaethol fel niwrowyddoniaeth a metawybyddiaeth.
-Mae'n cynnig gwybodaeth a sgiliau a all helpu plant trwy'r ysgol a thu hwnt.
Gall plant ddefnyddio'r hyn maen nhw'n ei ddysgu:
-Yn i deimlo'n hapusach, yn dawelach ac yn fwy cyflawn
-I dod ymlaen yn well gydag eraill
-Yn i'w helpu i ganolbwyntio a dysgu'n fwy effeithiol
-O helpu i ymdopi â straen a phryder
-O cefnogi perfformiad fel cerddoriaeth, drama neu chwaraeon.
Beth mae'r plant yn ei ddysgu?
Mae'r plant yn dysgu am rannau o'r ymennydd y dangosir eu bod yn cael eu dylanwadu gan ymarfer ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar. Cynigir sgiliau iddynt i'w helpu i ofalu amdanynt eu hunain: sut i gysoni eu hunain a sut i ymateb yn hytrach nag ymateb mewn sefyllfaoedd heriol. Maent yn dysgu am brosesau meddwl a sut mae meddyliau emosiynau a chyflwr corff yn effeithio ar ei gilydd. Maent yn ymchwilio i ‘ymladd-neu-hedfan’ a chanfyddiad. Maent yn ymarfer hyfforddi eu sylw ac archwilio sut y gall ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar eu cefnogi ym mhob maes o'u bywydau. Maent hefyd yn dysgu am garedigrwydd, sut y gallwn ddewis meithrin ein hunain ac eraill a sut y gallwn arogli a meithrin hapusrwydd.

Another week has come to an end at Ysgol Panteg. This week has been our Anti-Bullying week. What a way to end it by marking ‘Children in Need Day’!
EVERYONE
BBC Children in Need Day
A big thank you goes out to our Wellbeing leaders who have arranged today’s activities. There were pictures of Pudsey hidden everywhere! Lots of dots were worn for our Spot-tacular dressing up! We’ve had story time in some classes, a Pudsey treasure hunt in other classes and code breaking activities just to mention a few things! Today, we raised £226.52 towards children in need of support.

EVERYONE
Anti-Bullying Week
We've been talking a lot about kindness and bullying as you know this week. We've taken a topic each day. Today, we ended our anti-bullying week with our full assembly recapping our week's topics. It is usually defined as repeated behaviour which is intended to hurt someone either emotionally or physically, and is often aimed at certain people because of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation or any other aspect such as appearance or disability. Children have disagreements, misunderstandings and things do happen where they fall out - this is part of growing up. Bullying is where it turns to more than this and becomes repeated over a period of time, at Ysgol Panteg, we have a zero-tolerance for bullying. Bullying can take many forms including:
-physical hurting
-social bullying
-threatening behaviour
-name calling
-cyberbullying
The most important thing, we stress is that children need to tell a trusted adult as soon as possible. This may be a midday supervisor, teacher, teaching assistant or you as parents. Smaller situations are much easier to deal with than when they balloon out of proportion.
As children grow and develop, we want to protect them as well as helping them deal with situations confidently. So, part of this week has been about helping our children build resilience, and confidence is one of the most important gifts we can give them. This is an ongoing thing. We all understand how life can bring you many challenges throughout and how important it is on how we manage this. Resilience is being able to manage stress, challenges, trauma or adversity that life brings and bounce back from it. When children and teens are resilient, they are going to be more confident, curious and adaptable to the world around them.

Christmas and the Cost of Living
We know that this Christmas doesn’t feel that far away and that the cost of living crisis is really starting to affect many of our families. At Ysgol Panteg, we want every child to have a special time at Christmas. Christmas for children is such a magical time - and watching the faces of the children at Christmas is just as magical for us as adults.
As we did last year, we want to ensure that all children get presents. Due to the kind support of locals, the community council and anonymous connections, we are in a position to help families struggling at this time with the cost of living. We have many toys and gifts for children aged 3 to teenagers.
1) If you would benefit from any of these gifts, then you can contact me or Mrs Tudball confidentially and directly on matthew.dicken@torfaen.gov.uk or melanie.tudball@torfaen.gov.uk. We can then speak to you and arrange an appropriate time for you to come and pick from our stock. It might be that you can afford gifts for your child, but at the expense of something else - so please let us help.
2) If you are in a position to be able to give to support another family and want to, we’d be grateful. At present, we have lots for younger children but would be grateful of gifts suitable for older, more mature boys and girls. As a rule, we only give out brand new and unwrapped gifts.
We are a school family and this is just one way we can support each other.
With any of the Christmas events coming up, if you are struggling to pay whether because of rising costs or simply a technological issue, please get in contact with us to have a chat about how we can help.
YEAR 3
Mindfulness and Wellbeing Support
‘Paws B’ is a leading mindfulness curriculum for children aged 7 -11 in schools and was initially developed in collaboration with experienced primary school teachers at Pen y Bryn school, senior mindfulness teachers and researchers at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University.
Our Year 3 children have so far, had two lessons with Mrs Elizabeth Williams (an expert who we have employed to come in an support with delivering this supportive programme). The mindfulness programme will run for the next 12 weeks with these children. After Christmas, we have organised that our Year 6 experience a special mindfulness course to aid with transition to secondary.
So, why are we teaching Paws B Mindfulness?
-It promotes wellbeing, self-awareness and self-care.
-It offers adaptive coping strategies to build resilience and help when life is challenging.
-It encourages children to treat themselves and others kindly and with respect.
-It can help foster a growth mindset and positive attitude to learning.
-It extends thinking-skills learning promoted in the national curriculum such as neuroscience and metacognition.
-It offers knowledge and skills which can help children through school and beyond.
Children can use what they learn:
-To feel happier, calmer and more fulfilled
-To get on better with others
-To help them concentrate and learn more effectively
-To help cope with stress and anxiety
-To support performance such as music, drama or sport.
What do the children learn?
The children learn about parts of the brain shown to be influenced by mindfulness practice. They are offered skills to help them take care of themselves: how to steady themselves and how to respond rather than react in challenging situations. They learn about thinking processes and how thoughts emotions and body state affect each other. They investigate ‘fight-or-flight’ and perception. They practice training their attention and explore how mindfulness can support them in all areas of their lives. They also learn about kindness, how we can choose to nurture ourselves and others and how we can savour and cultivate happiness.
